JOB DESCRIPTION This is an opportunity for a Tax professional with experience as an International Tax Director and a solid understanding of Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 and the impact on international tax laws and regulations. Solid understanding of GILTI, FDII, and other new provisions related to U.S. taxation and updated international reporting forms (including 5471). Historical knowledge regarding sub-part F, foreign disclosure requirements, and structuring for cross-border businesses and families. While our firm is involved in multinational corporate inbound and outbound taxation, our focus is on entrepreneurial individuals and the businesses that they own, cross border tax planning for wealthy families and trusts, and transactional consulting.
A day in the life of this position may include: - Research and consult with clients on tax-efficient structuring of inbound and outbound international transactions, effective use of tax treaties, planning related to offshore investment activities and repatriation programs to minimize US and foreign income taxes of our US-based multinational clients, minimizing worldwide tax burdens on business transactions and operations, and making effective foreign investments.
- Facilitate client understanding of international tax development implications
- Maintain strong client relations and cross-sell services within the assigned group of clients
- Work closely with partners, managers, and staff to integrate practice development skills into a team approach to client service and new business development
- Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on tax projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews
- Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively
- Consult, work with, and service clients to make recommendations on business and process improvements and serve as a business advisor to clients
- Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis and stay informed regarding tax changes and issues that could affect clients
What you bring: - Eight (8) or more years of progressive tax consulting experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
- Master's Degree in Taxation, LLM in Taxation or JD
- Experience with a large public accounting firm or large law firm
- Knowledge of inbound and outbound taxation
- Working knowledge of international, estate and gift tax planning
- Experience with foreign trust issues including foreign grantor and non-grantor trusts
- Excellent analytical, technical and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and tax compliance and consulting
- Experience with inbound and outbound transaction consulting, multi-national corporation experience, transfer pricing and foreign tax credit utilization a plus
- Experience training and developing staff
