POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Analyze current business practices and recommendations for improvements.
- Freight rate negotiations with transportation companies both domestic and international..
- Analyze the inbound freight movement to determine freight consolation points to reduce inbound freight expense.
- Presents reports on department operations and expenses.
- Prepares and implements departmental budget.
- Required to have a thorough understanding of transportation finance and accounting practices.
- Oversees or delegates responsibility for the day to day workflow of the department and staff.
- Develops and enforces procedures, policies, and safety protocols for all fleet services.
- Creates and manages plans to ensure all fleet maintenance is up to DOT and company standards.
- Strong personal and professional judgment.
- Directs the operation of fleet facilities in Henderson, NC and Newnan, Ga
- Remains up to date on state and federal workplace safety regulations and communicates the company's safety vision.
- Presents self as a reliable, trusted, and consistent business partner who can manage confidential, proprietary, sensitive information and various situations.
- Solves problems and make decisions quickly whether one-one-one or in a group setting. Promptly confronts and challenges inappropriate actions or comments.
- Establishes self as a leader and a gatekeeper for good business practices.
- Uses a physical presence and communication style that regularly secures informal and formal feedback from other managers through regular discussions or dialogue.
- Proactively supports managing performance, organizational health, and the operation of the transportation department by asking meaningful and challenging questions to develop strong relationships with the management team.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills as well as excellent leadership skills are required

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- 5 to 10 years' experience as a director or senior leader in the transportation field.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Working knowledge of PCs and various business and transportation software packages.
- Business knowledge as it relates to finance, budgets, payroll, general administration, etc.
- Ability to solve a wide range of complex problems.
- Ability to make recommendations for improvement in new and existing systems or procedures.
