BASIC FUNCTION:The purpose of this position is to provide strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the University's Housing and Residential Life of the University Housing Partners. This position will provide direct oversight for occupancy management, residence life living learning programs, facilities, financial performance of the department in addition to, management and housekeeping.SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:Responsible for the supervision and management of senior staff in the Residence Life Department as well as the Housing Partners, Contractors and other auxiliary service providers within the residential facilities.NATURE AND SCOPE:Internal contacts include executives, administrators, faculty, students and staff of the department and the university at large. External contacts include parents, consultants, visitors and the public.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Lead and provide vision and strategic direction for the University Housing department. In addition, the role is responsible for achieving organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures in conjunction with the mission of the university.
  • Responsible for oversight of budgets, facilities, administrative operations, and occupancy within the university housing community.
  • Directs the day to day operations of the business functions for the Residence Life department.
  • Ensures goals and objectives support the overall educational programming mission of the Residence Life department.
  • Directs, evaluates, and leads the housing operation, including the education, development, safety, health and wellness of all residential students living in all residence halls.
  • Formulate and implement financial management control techniques to facilitate budget analysis and maintain funds control.
  • Develop statistical comparative analysis in support of approved and projected housing operation plans in achieving desired goals.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the housing system, housing organization and the housing partnerships on a periodic basis and recommend operational and organizational changes to the Vice President, where appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain a statistical reporting system depicting residence hall occupancy, design capacity and develop strategic targets and rate increase recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Develop marketing plans and communication strategies for targeted audiences with the goal of increasing occupancy and identifying opportunities for revenue generation.
  • Create and advance relationships with students, legal guardians, key partners, businesses, and community stakeholders; maintain open dialogue to promote and gain support for initiatives and respond to escalated housing related issues.
  • Manage the operations team responsible for calendar creation and dissemination, facilities management and routine maintenance, move-in and move-out, special events, summer operations, and facility renovations/new construction.
  • Provide guidance for the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of diverse talent who enhance the university goals, with ; create accountability and ownership among team members through communication of clear expectations, supervision, and provision of timely performance feedback.
  • Develop and maintain schedule and procedures for the timely processing of all residence hall housing application and reservation deposits.
  • Model the highest standards of student development professionalism; lead the training and development of team members through coaching, motivating, and mentoring.
  • Maximize occupancy through the housing selection process and deployment of strategic plans
  • Responsible for ensuring a compliant environment in support of the university's mission, adopting practices in support of the Clery Act, Title IX and all other applicable laws.
  • Develop an ongoing assessment strategy for the department and establish KPIs for the housing partners.
  • Participates in the Division leadership group and must be a visionary and highly collaborative leader with the ability to facilitate organizational change to adapt to the changing needs of students.
  • Assist with the organization and implementation of departmental workshops conferences, staff meetings and special projects.
  • Attend and participate in divisional level planning groups, and university Committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
  • Successful experience in applying knowledge of principles, processes and requirements of planning, budgeting, financial planning and analysis for an organization of similar size and complexity of funding streams.
  • Experience with StarRez housing software and Banner.
  • Proven ability to develop and deploy change management initiatives that streamline and modernize student services.
  • Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Proven ability to facilitate and reach consensus in committee structure with senior administration and with peers both internally and externally.
  • Proven history of building strategic relationships aligned on goals and focused on creating value for customers.
  • Ability to communicate and work with all levels of a rapidly changing organization.
  • Proven ability to build, develop, train, and evaluate a strong leadership team committed to quality services, engaging communities, and collaborative relationships that touch all corners of the institution.
  • Proven history of creating and sustaining solid business processes, exceptional customer service mindset, passionate about the student experience, connected to the ideals of a just society that embraces all forms of diversity; and visionary in leadership and operations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's degree and 7-10 or more years of relevant experience.
  • 15 years of related work experience may be substituted in lieu of educational qualifications.
  • Previous Director level experience in a compressive housing and residence life program preferred.
  • Experience with housing partnership agreements preferred.
Compliance Salary Range DisclosureExpected Pay Range: $100,000 - $110,000
