Position Overview:The Director of Veterinary Management is responsible for providing clinical veterinary care to animals used in research at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). The Director of Veterinary Management is also responsible for providing planning, implementation, and oversight of all aspects of research animal health and well-being. The incumbent will report to the Dean of the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (CNMS) at UMBC and provide counsel on business, fiscal, human resource, and administrative matters associated with promoting and maintaining the welfare of research animals.
Responsibilities:Note: This is a designated essential position supporting the animal care program and requires the ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during emergency conditions such as inclement weather and power/utility failure and/or night emergency on-call duty.
Preferred Qualifications:Licensure/ Certification Preferred: American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) board certification ACLAM board certification.
Experience and knowledge of facility operations, including regulations, standards, and guidelines for care and use of animals in teaching, research, and service. Familiarity with Association for Assessment and Accreditation for Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) accreditation standards, as demonstrated in work history and credentials.
