Job Objective
The Director of Weddings + Private Events will be responsible for leading the booking, planning, and execution of all weddings and private events for Michaelis Events' clients. This role involves managing the end-to-end process, from initial client inquiries to the successful delivery of all event services. The director will work closely with the President, Executive Chef, Logistics Manager, Floral Manager, and Marketing Team to ensure client satisfaction and maintain the high standards Michaelis is known for.
The Director must not only meet sales targets but also ensure that each event aligns with the client's vision and budget, while adhering to Michaelis' service standards. Flexibility is required, as this role involves on-site management at all weddings and private events, often during weekends.
Key Responsibilities
● Sales & Client Relationships:
○ Serve as the main point of contact for clients from inquiry through event execution.
○ Promote all Michaelis services to ensure clients meet minimum spends.
○ Meet with clients to understand their vision, expectations, and budget.
○ Assist clients in developing budgets and timelines.
● Event Management & Coordination:
○ Lead the planning process, including floor plan creation, vendor recommendations, and contract negotiations.
○ Collaborate with the internal team and external vendors to ensure seamless service delivery.
○ Attend all events, staying through dinner service to ensure smooth execution.
○ Communicate regularly with the Executive Chef and Logistics Manager to address client needs.
● Operational Excellence:
○ Drive operational efficiency and consistency in event delivery.
○ Continuously improve product and service quality, focusing on innovation and client satisfaction.
○ Assist the Staffing Coordinator to ensure all events are properly staffed.
○ Ensure clear communication and coordination between all departments before and during events.
Required Skills & Qualifications
● Leadership & Management:
○ Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and collaborate with teams.
○ Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
○ Experience in creating budgets, negotiating contracts, and vendor management.
○ Ability to think creatively and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
● Communication & Client Relations:
○ Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
○ Experience working with high-end clientele and ensuring satisfaction at every touchpoint.
○ Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in high-stress situations.
● Technical Skills:
○ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and event planning software (Caterease preferred).
○ Strong math skills for budgeting and financial planning.
Working Conditions
● Schedule:
○ Primarily Tuesday-Saturday with flexibility based on event schedules.
○ Requires on-site presence during all booked events.
