Job DetailsJob Location Shady Canyon Golf Club - Irvine, CA Position Type Full Time Education Level Not Specified Salary Range $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 Salary/year Travel Percentage None Job Shift Any Job Category Customer Service Description The Director of Wellness is responsible for the overall success of the Spa, Fitness Center, aquatics programs and retail boutique. Responsible for hiring and supervision of staff to provide services for members including fitness classes, personal training, Pilates, massage, facials and body treatments. Development of spa menu and spa products for retail sales. Buyer for boutique includes meeting with vendors to select items appropriate for members. Oversee seasonal programs such as Summer Camp, Swim Lessons, and Swim Team. Job Functions:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to members and guests.
  • Be visible and engaged with members and guests.
  • Hiring, supervision and team building of staff to provide exceptional service to members and guests. Provide guidelines and leadership for department and staff including regular training and professional development.
  • Develop and monitor Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide state of the art Fitness programming for members.
  • Develop and refresh the spa menu as needed to increase bookings.
  • Develop strong and lasting relationships with members.
  • Listen to concerns of members conveying interest, assuring an expedient response in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Provide accurate, appropriate, and immediate responses to all requests by members, ensuring complete member satisfaction.
  • Provide detailed descriptions of spa treatments, fitness packages, services, facility features and hours of operation.
  • Utilize computers with skill and proficiency.
  • Actively promote the spa, treatments, fitness services and retail, as well as programs, promotions and/or discounts available.
  • Select and creatively display spa products and services.
  • Buyer for boutique, keeping up with current trends in fitness and fashion apparel.
  • New member orientations and tours of the facilities.
  • Plan special events throughout the year for members that highlight the Wellness Center and Spa services.
  • Ensure the facility is clean, safe, fully stocked and well-organized work area; including refreshment station and relaxation area.
  • Successfully build teams promoting a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
  • Prepare and monitor capital and operating budgets.
  • Communicate to management all occurrences involving staff or members in the Wellness Center that require attention.
  • The Director may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the Club as requested by the General Manager.

Qualifications
  • Fluent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Hands-on and proactive management style.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written to interact knowledgeably with and impact both internal and external parties. Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with good judgment and discretion.

  • Proven strength as a motivational team-builder; developer of staff, coach and mentor.
  • High School graduate or equivalent required, college degree or certification in wellness/health sciences/fitness preferred.
  • The ability to demonstrate good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • A minimum of three to five years' previous experience in an environment that promotes wellness, fitness, healthy lifestyles and nutrition preferred.
