Tioga operates from three Regional Sale Offices located in Pennsylvania, Texas, and Tennessee, and two Distribution facilities located in Forks Township, PA and Houston, TX where the inventory is among the largest and most comprehensive in the United States. Position Summary The Director of Operations will oversee the day-to-day activities of Tioga's distribution and warehousing operations, ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Supply Chain Management. is preferred.
  • Extensive and diversified background with at least 10 years of related operational experience.
  • Experience managing people and teams
  • Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Ability to identify weak spots in a process to improve efficiency. LEAN or Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business operations, budgeting, cost management, staffing, and finance.
  • Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Participates in the hiring and training of operational staff and managers.
  • Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of operational personnel..
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
  • Participates in quarterly Director meetings with the President providing a summary of performance and key action steps to be taken.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures.
  • Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
  • Ensures work environments are adequate and safe.
  • Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets and cost of sales to achieve financial objectives.
  • Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
  • Improves customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.
  • Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations, and sales to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.
  • Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.
  • Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Provides technical and administrative support to the safety committee.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Travel Requirements
  • Up to 25% travel
    • Attend Quarterly Management Review meetings.
    • Both warehouse locations including Houston, Texas and Forks Township, Pennsylvania
