Position Summary The Director of Operations will oversee the day-to-day activities of Tioga's distribution and warehousing operations, ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Supply Chain Management. is preferred.
- Extensive and diversified background with at least 10 years of related operational experience.
- Experience managing people and teams
- Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Ability to identify weak spots in a process to improve efficiency. LEAN or Six Sigma experience preferred.
- Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business operations, budgeting, cost management, staffing, and finance.
- Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.
- Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Participates in the hiring and training of operational staff and managers.
- Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of operational personnel..
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
- Participates in quarterly Director meetings with the President providing a summary of performance and key action steps to be taken.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures.
- Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
- Ensures work environments are adequate and safe.
- Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets and cost of sales to achieve financial objectives.
- Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
- Improves customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.
- Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations, and sales to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.
- Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.
- Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
- Provides technical and administrative support to the safety committee.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Travel Requirements
- Up to 25% travel
- Attend Quarterly Management Review meetings.
- Both warehouse locations including Houston, Texas and Forks Township, Pennsylvania
