About the role

Flex is looking for a Director, People!

In this role you will be responsible for managing both strategic and operational people focused programs while acting as a direct partner to our growing Flex team. This person will help optimize current programs as well as lead the creation of new ones. Additionally, you'll manage the day-to-day operations, overseeing our People Coordinator and Operations & Experience Manager, ensuring a fantastic employee experience.This is a hybrid position with on-site expectations of 3 days per week in our New York Headquarters. For candidates outside of the NY/NJ area, you may be eligible for our relocation assistance program.

What you'll do
  • Manage the administration of core programs and services such as compensation, benefits, performance management, employee engagement, and in-person collaboration to ensure Flex is providing an excellent employee experience and meeting any regulatory requirements and act as a strategic partner for designing and implementing new initiatives related to total rewards, culture, L&D, workforce planning.
  • Serve as a partner to leaders and staff, proactively engaging to keep up employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Support leadership reporting, collaborating with the People Operations Manager to analyze relevant people data (e.g., comp, engagement) and extract actionable insights.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to provide guidance on job leveling, compensation, and equity packages for new hires.
  • Oversee current culture initiatives such as our annual company offsite and help develop further employee engagement activities.
  • Lead HR compliance efforts such as audits (e.g., SOC2, EEOC, ACA) and regular documentation requests, partnering with Legal and Compliance as necessary.
  • Own management of important People vendor relationships.
  • Lead and elevate core organizational programs such as company-wide meetings, onboarding/offboarding, open enrollment, engagement surveys, and employee relation activities.
  • Act as backup for the VP of People, providing coverage and cross-functional support as needed.
  • Be on-site at Flex HQ at least three days per week to ensure visibility and hands-on support for our teams.
Who You Are
  • HR experience is preferred, but we're open to strong operators and strategists who have a passion for people and a genuine interest in learning the HR space.
  • Experience in a scaling start-up environment, with a proven ability to adapt to a dynamic setting where needs can change quickly.
  • Strategic and solutions-focused thinker who can analyze current practices and drive improvements.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, with a proactive approach to providing feedback, follow-up, and updates to ensure momentum and accountability across all projects and programs.
  • A builder who thrives creating and iterating programs from scratch.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple high priority initiatives at once.
  • Highly skilled in analyzing people data and metrics, leveraging advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills to support strategic reporting and actionable insights.
  • Highly relational, able to connect with team members at all levels and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Aware of your expertise, knowing when to seek input from others and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Confident presenting to large groups, both virtually and in person.
Nice to Haves
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience, strongly preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of federal and state labor laws and practices.
  • Experience supporting immigration processes; extra bonus points for supporting a globally diverse workforce.

The compensation range for this role will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks. For working locations in NY/NJ/CA, the base salary pay range will be $194,000 - $206,000.
