Director, People Operations, People & Central Operations Division Flexible LocationWHO WE ARE TNTP brings research, policy, and consulting together to reimagine America's public education system. We collaborate across sectors and with school systems to ensure that the 3.5 million young people who graduate high school every year have pathways to economic and social mobility. TNTP's People and Central Operations division focuses on the Talent function (Workforce, People Operations, Performance Management) and Central Management (Internal Operations and Communications). The Talent teams lead business and data-driven people strategies and programs across the entire employee lifecycle. Their work is pivotal to building a strong, inclusive culture that enables TNTP to hire, develop, reward, and engage the diverse talent we need to achieve TNTP's ambitious goals for students. WHAT YOU'LL DO As Director, People Operations you love the operations pieces of the people/human resources. This role does not focus on talent function (e.g. talent acquisition, talent planning, etc.), rather the Director of People Operations will provide strategic leadership and direction for the People Operations team, driving alignment with organizational goals. This role is key to managing and developing talent, ensuring compliance, and fostering a positive employee experience. You will develop scalable methodologies and tools to help mitigate organizational risk, optimize people operations, and streamline core processes like onboarding, offboarding, employee modifications, and others that make up the employment life cycle. Some responsibilities and duties may vary, but the role of Director, People Operations includes: Team and Organizational Leadership
  • Support strategic direction and leadership for the People Ops team.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align people operations initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Manage and develop a high performing People Operations team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Lead change management initiatives to support organizational growth and transformation.
Leadership Development & Succession Planning Strategy
  • Work cross collaboratively to align training and coaching to leadership development strategy.
  • Identify, design, and develop frameworks that represent skills and leadership capabilities critical to long-term and short-term objectives.
  • Support a robust and methodical structure for recurring succession planning and talent assessments.
Performance Management & Employee Relations
  • Responsible for design, implement, and manage comprehensive performance management systems and processes.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers on performance management, feedback, and development plans.
  • Analyze performance metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and drive organizational success.
  • Foster a culture of continuous feedback and professional growth.
  • Lead and manage employee relations programs, ensuring a harmonious and productive work environment
  • Oversee the resolution of employee conflicts and grievances, conducting through investigations and implementing fair and consistent solutions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management on employee relations issues and best practices.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure the organization's adherence to all relevant employment laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Develop, review and update HR policies and procedures to reflect current laws and best practices.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide training and resources to employees and managers on compliance and risk management topics.
Employee Onboarding & Experience
  • Oversee the design and implementation of an effective onboarding program that facilitates a seamless integration for new hires.
  • Develop initiatives to enhance the overall employee experience, from onboarding through the entire employee life cycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent and positive employee journey.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of onboarding and employee experience programs, making data-driven improvements.
WHAT YOU HAVE Qualifications and Experiences We are looking for a candidate to possess the following skills and expertise:
  • 6 to 8 years relevant work experience in compliance or employment law, employee relations, people operations or related People function and 4+ years supervisory / management experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision making.
  • Indept knowledge of employment laws and regulations, preferably for a multi-state employer.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in managing and/or supporting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging organization initiatives strongly preferred.
  • Experience using Workday strongly preferred
  • Professional fluency in English and Spanish (preferred).

WHAT WE OFFER TNTP offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position with the potential for an annual performance-based bonus. The salary range for this position is $100,000-$150,000. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint at the following ranges ($100,000-$125,000) depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. We also provide best-in-class comprehensive benefits, providing a wide range of plans and programs that are focused on supporting the physical, mental, and financial wellness of employees and their dependents. TNTP pays toward the cost of medical insurance plans and dental and vision plans. Our 403(b)-retirement plan has up to 7% matching contribution, as well as free financial planning and coaching services, and up to $600/year payment towards qualifying student loans. TNTP also provides fully paid life insurance, parenting benefits, lifestyle spending accounts, up to 12 weeks of fully paid medical leave, generous vacation time, commuter benefits, referral bonuses, and professional development. New employees start with 5 sick/personal days, accrue 15 days of vacation during their first year of employment, and receive approximately 24 paid holidays each year-including a Winter Break the last 2-weeks of December. We also provide a one-time home office start-up stipend of up to $1,100 and annual refresher amounts of up to $250/year, a TNTP-provided laptop and cell phone, and a home office stipend of $135/month.
