Your objectives:
As the Director of Process Chemistry, your performance will be evaluated on the following objectives:
- Deliver excellence in process development and technical transfers to partners and customers.
- Lead process chemistry efforts, ensuring timelines, cGMP compliance, and customer expectations are met.
- Develop scalable, cost-effective manufacturing processes primed for technology transfer.
What you will do:
- Provide process chemistry expertise to support CDMO business operations.
- Lead and manage process chemistry activities in the Advanced Manufacturing R&D lab.
- Ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of customer project objectives.
- Oversee efficient technology transfers to external manufacturing partners.
- Manage and mentor a team of process chemists, fostering professional growth.
- Support recruitment efforts by assisting in the hiring process for department roles.
- Evaluate new projects, identifying synthetic routes for scalable manufacturing processes.
- Conduct literature research and laboratory experimentation to optimize synthetic routes.
- Author and review process documentation, including development protocols, batch records, and validation reports.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Analytical Chemistry, EH&S, Engineering, and other internal/external stakeholders.
What you will bring:
- 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical process development roles with increasing responsibility.
- Proven success in process development, technology transfer, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of CDMO business dynamics.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Significant experience in API manufacturing and process chemistry at multi-kilogram scales.
- Deep knowledge of ICH and cGMP standards.
- Experience managing CROs/CMOs/CDMOs and working with third-party vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to present at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- Expertise in risk assessments and the design of experiments (DOE).
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
