The Director, Print Production provides support to the Team Leader by performing the daily tasks necessary to implement and execute media plans on behalf of clients. This position will work directly with the client with supervision from the Team Lead. He/she will also have responsibility managing the production process for the account team. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Developing and sourcing multiple print quote requests including multiple formats, creatives, lot sizes and commingling on-press for split testing
- Coordinating multiple advertisers using same format for print efficiencies
- Developing print grids to maximize efficiency
- Reviewing print material and conferring with client or individual responsible for presentation regarding budget, background information, objectives, presentation approaches, styles, techniques, and related production factors
- Developing basic design concepts into appropriate layouts and prepare layouts for printing
- Obtaining cost estimates from outside vendors
- Contracting and negotiating terms and deadlines with printers
- Reviews, approves, prepares and presents final layouts to client or department head for approval and printing
- Monitoring vendor adherence to quality expectations and tight deadlines and budget specifications
- Attending press checks when necessary
- Working with account teams to prioritize, track, and maintain records of the elements, costs, and time schedules of multiple projects
- Proof and approve project details and submit to accounting for invoicing
- Identifying and implementing production best practice across the organization
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 7+ years print production experience and account management
- Knowledge in Web, Mini Web and Sheet fed Press operations, variable data printing technology and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
- Experience with Direct Mail envelope, catalog and self-mailer format and various single sheet and multi-panel Insert formats
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and working with complicated data files including segmentation
- Advanced understanding of current postal regulations and freight best practices
