What You'll Do
We are seeking a motivated Director of Quality Assurance to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the quality of the company's multiple Shopify Plus e-commerce websites. This individual will develop and implement testing strategies, ensuring the reliability, performance, and functionality of our digital properties. The Director of QA will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, product, design and marketing, to ensure seamless execution and delivery of high-quality eCommerce sites. This role will focus on both manual and automated testing, ensuring that all features and functionalities meet the highest standards of quality and user experience.
What You'll be Working on
* Develop, implement, and lead comprehensive QA processes, frameworks, and best practices for Shopify-based eCommerce websites
* Create and maintain testing roadmaps that align with product releases and business priorities, ensuring that all new features, integrations, and updates are rigorously tested
* Work closely with development and product teams to ensure quality standards are met throughout the development lifecycle
* Partner with the Development team to maintain and optimize multiple shopify themes
* Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
* Work with external vendors to assist in integrating new features to the site's reliability plan
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new website features without performance or user impact
* Ensure compatibility with various browsers and devices
* Test and validate touch points with customers, such as emails, apps, and sms campaigns
Potential Areas to Grow into:
* Oversee the execution of both automated and manual tests, ensuring all eCommerce features are thoroughly tested for usability, compatibility, and performance.
* Develop internal automation applications to improve workflow and reduce manual redundant work.
* Improve site reliability with testing, monitoring, and automation tasks.
* Work with portfolio of brands to improve performance for sites across all brands
* Analyzing traffic to inform website maintenance and the effectiveness of marketing strategies and site optimizations
* Continuously research, test and propose new Shopify apps or site features to improve revenue or efficiency based on data/metrics
* Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies
Must Haves
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of web development best practices and experience working on a small tech team with many cross functional department leads.
* 8+ years of experience in software quality assurance/site reliability, with at least 3 years in a senior level role
* Extensive experience in testing and ensuring the quality of Shopify-based eCommerce platforms, custom apps, themes, and third-party integrations
* Strong knowledge of Shopify's API, Liquid templating language, and eCommerce best practices
* Proven experience in building and leading automated testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress) as well as hands-on manual testing expertise
* Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI) and integrating QA processes into the development pipeline
* Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for QA processes, including test coverage, defect rates, and release quality
* Continuously monitor testing outcomes, providing reports and insights to stakeholders on the overall quality of the platform
* Drive continuous enhancements to testing strategies, ensuring faster and more reliable deployments while maintaining high-quality standards
* Identify potential risks or bottlenecks in the testing process and propose solutions for more efficiency
* Oversee security testing to identify vulnerabilities in Shopify apps, plugins, and integrations, working closely with developers to mitigate risks
* Ensure that QA processes include accessibility testing, ensuring all sites meet ADA and WCAG compliance standards
Nice to Haves
An ideal candidate would also have some experience in the following areas.
* Experience with deployment and ecommerce tech life cycle
* 6+ years of experience with a JavaScript Framework, preferably Vue
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field (preferred)
* Experience configuring and integrating e-commerce systems end to end
* Can write clean and efficient code and review and audit team members code
* A quick thinker and a strong communicator
* Not afraid to step outside of your comfort zone, can tackle projects independently
* Know when to lean on your team, and when to step up
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, working with a hybrid/remote team
Primary Location Salary Range: $115,000 - $140,000
