Job DescriptionThe Director of Quality is responsible for the development and maintenance of systems across the organization that ensure high levels of quality are met in products, internal processes, and services.This position will serve our Air Conditioning Division, located in Fort Smith, AR or Atlanta, GA. Responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains a product development process that ensures all assemblies, components, and materials meet Rheem specifications.
  • Builds/Supports/Maintains a Quality Management System that reviews processes and controls at critical locations and monitors/enhances change management in all development processes in conjunction with engineering, procurement, and Manufacturing departments.
  • Coordinates with Design, Supplier Quality, Procurement, and Mfg/Process Engineering to maintain processes that ensures new products are presented to Rheem customers defect-free and strive for a zero defect mindset throughout the processes.
  • Develops and maintains Control Plans based on FMEAs developed by Design Engineering and Process Engineering.
  • Maintains appropriate involvement of Quality resources in component and system reliability processes, including Design Validation Plans and Reports (DVP&R) and Process Validation Plans and Reports (PVP&R), and Process Sign-Offs (PSO)
  • Assists company officers and senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
  • Improves operational quality by focusing on process control, lean, six sigma, sharing learnings and best practices, and continual training as appropriate. Coordinate across all division BUs, standardizing processes and methods and working hard to standardize across divisions to the extent practical.
  • Oversight of the process that tracks and addresses customer quality and warranty issues. Ensure that issues are prioritized, resourced, and resolved in a timely manner to meet the needs of the business, and escalate urgent field concerns for faster resolution cross-functionally.
  • Continually develops and maintains quality systems and quality data management across the division.
  • Develops and coordinates Quality Improvement Plans for products, plants, suppliers (in conjunction w/ SQA), and customers, highlighting to management significant issues that need resources and resolution.
  • Supports division leadership regarding quality matters, so they can effectively direct and monitor resources to accomplish goals of the strategic plan consistent with established standards while challenging aged and obsolete standards & protocols for organizational improvement and performance.
  • Develops and maintains a quality dashboard for the division.
  • Coordinates regular quality reviews at plant, division, and corporate levels as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations or related field
  • Experience in a leadership role over multiple manufacturing plants.
  • 10+ years of experience in a quality role or related field.
  • Significant experience with process design and continuous improvement
  • Strong organizational skills, such as team building, networking, relating to others, etc.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Working knowledge and experience with ISO9001 or TS16949 based Quality System Standards.
  • Knowledge and experience in Advanced Quality Planning Tools.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma application preferred.
  • Ability to speak Spanish not required but would be an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Operations, Manufacturing, MBA or related field
  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) and/or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • Certified Six Sigma Black or Green belt
