Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Regulatory and Chief Operating Officer, leads Abington and Lansdale's readiness and compliance with regulatory standards and response to inquiries/follow-up, which includes, but is not limited to, The Joint Commission, CMS, Pennsylvania Department of Health and OSHA. Independently and in collaboration with other organizational leaders, spearheads process improvement and system initiatives to ensure and maintain compliance at the highest level.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates, directs and drives efforts for continual readiness/preparation activities to ensure compliance with standards and regulations, leading and responding, to maintain compliance with current, new or updated regulations related to organizational licensure and accreditation, providing Senior Leaders with ongoing critical assessments of current state and assists in the creation of organizational improvement plans for future state through collaboration with AH leaders.
  • Coordinates, responds to and manages all regulatory site visits reviews and surveys with AH leadership.
  • Responsible for coordination of communication between regulatory agencies and Abington Health, serving as key contact and liaison with all accrediting and licensing agencies before/during after survey or inspections.
  • Coordinates and directs efforts to achieve ‘outsider' agency certifications, including but not limited to, TJC disease specific certifications, SCPC, etc. and remains knowledgeable of and/or participates in all ‘clinical' department organizational reviews/inspections/unannounced visits (i.e. NEC, NRC, DEP, etc).
  • Stays abreast, ensuring an in-depth knowledge of the regulatory forces (TJC, DOH, CMS, OSHA, etc) impacting the provision of care related to organizational licensure and accreditation for AH.
  • Identifies opportunities for clinical and non-clinical services (internal or external to the organization) and makes recommendations to the administrative team to better meet the needs of patients.
  • Serves as internal expert/resource to assist others in understanding and interpreting regulations that impact AH departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    A. Experience: 5+ years experience in healthcare regulatory affairs.

    B. Education and Training: Bachelor's degree required. Masters in related healthcare field essential.

    C. License Certification and Registration: Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Valid Driver's License & Registration and Vehicle Access.

    D. Other Requirements: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to lead process improvement initiatives as well as teach and coach new leaders. In-depth knowledge of JCAHO, DOH and CMS regulatory standards. Ability to prioritize and function effectively and professionally while balancing a challenging workload. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint programs. Familiarity with clinical, hospital-based information systems.
