Avera is currently seeking a highly motivated Director of Research Compliance & Institutional Review Board (IRB)!

* As a Director of Research Compliance, oversee the activities of research compliance committees, including the IRB for the protection of Human Subjects, and supervise review of proposals meeting criteria for exempt, expedited and full board review that have been submitted to the IRB.

Job Summary

The primary duty of the Director - Research Compliance and Institutional Review Board (IRB) is to assure that Avera based research, IRB, and service activities are planned and conducted in accordance with federal and state regulations in the areas of human subjects' protection. The Director - Research Compliance and IRB oversees all aspects of the IRB to ensure the rights and welfare of research participants are protected while ensuring quality review of human subject's research, and ensures that policies and procedures are consistent with applicable state and federal regulations and coordinates committees involved in overseeing activities related to these compliance areas.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

* Bachelor's degree in business or a health care related field or equivalent combination of education and experience with research and human subject regulations required.

* At least 5-7 years of experience and/or training in clinical research with knowledge of human subjects protection regulations, working on or with an institutional review board, and/or in compliance is required.
