Description Position purposeDirects security activities by performing the following duties personally, with staff or with the assistance of contracted vendorsMajor Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Plans, examines, analyzes and evaluates Vaughn security operations;
- Prepares reports and records for management team;
- Evaluates current procedures, practices and precedents for accomplishing Vaughn activities and functions relative to security;
- Identifies and resolves security related problems;
- Develops and implements alternative methods for security operation improvement;
- Order supplies and equipment as needed;
- Develops preventative security programs, including the oversight of contracted security personnel;
- Conducts physical surveys of premise security, including security equipment condition;
- Conducts, supervises and prepares reports relating to internal investigations of any losses or violations of Vaughn regulations, policies and procedures;
- Develops, implements and manages student, staff and faculty security training;
- Assists in preparation of emergency management and contingency planning;
- Serves as Vaughn liaison with public law enforcement, fire and other agencies (in conjunction with the contracted security vendor) as it relates to security at Vaughn;
- Oversees through contract personnel, Vaughn activities and security functions, utilizing knowledge of established policies, procedures and practices;
- Sets deadlines to ensure completion of operational security functions;
- Assists in security RFP process.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees vendor services
- Is responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these services
- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Responsibilities include interviewing, and hiring, contractors; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis position is located in an office environment, but also requires the individual to work throughout the campus. Generally an employee needs to be able to sit, stand, and navigate within the office area and throughout the campus. The individual should be able to lift 25 pounds on a regular basis, and 50 pounds on a limited basis.
