The Need

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM's Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Director, Strategic Partnerships Marketing & Communications.

As IJM accelerates its trajectory of growth and impact, the Strategic Partnerships team is seeking a driven leader to develop and execute a strategic marketing and communication plan to drive the scaling of major donor revenue across the US market and manage a team of marketing professionals to execute on this plan. This position works in close collaboration with IJM's Strategic Partnerships team and Global and North America marketing teams.

We will consider remote applicants for this position, but will prioritize those based in the Washington, DC area. The role can be hybrid (onsite Tuesdays and Thursdays). It reports to the Vice President, Strategic Partnerships and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation

  • Non-profit marketing and/or fundraising with Major Donor audiences preferred.
  • Experience in developing donor journeys, fundraising assets, metrics and KPIs.
  • Develop a marketing strategy for the acquisition of prospective high-value donors.
  • Develop an overarching content strategy for major donor audiences.

Networking & Partnership

  • Collaborate with North America and Global Marketing teams to provide insight and feedback on major donor products and content.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to ensure coordination with wider donor engagement strategy and identify opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Work with internal and third-party content creators to develop content that will engage major donors with the right message at the right time.
  • Be a voice of the major donor across IJM teams.
  • Collaborate closely with our frontline fundraisers and develop feedback loops on donor content.

Communication

  • Oversee the writing of donor-centric communications that fundraisers can share with their major donors, such as monthly newsletters and event recruitment resources.
  • Lead the content management for Major Donor fundraisers, such as a curated content bank and calendaring tools.
  • Communicate with colleagues and constituents with clarity, effectiveness and professionalism.

Training and Development

  • Manage a team that produces highly effective major donor proposals and reports.
  • Collaborate with SP Director of Enablement to equip fundraisers and drive adoption or best practices.

Documentation, Reporting & Data Management

  • Analyze marketing campaign and communications performance with major donors, reporting on KPIs to inform strategy.
  • Manage major donor content & calendaring resources for the Strategic Partnerships team.
  • Lead major donor event marketing strategy and execution, including development of event recruiting materials.

General Tasks

  • Participate in IJM's community of spiritual formation.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in marketing or nonprofit fundraising.
  • Demonstrated expertise in major donor marketing.
  • Proven expertise in communicating with foundations, corporate executives, and principal-level donors.
  • Portfolio of excellent work that demonstrates creativity, ingenuity and insight.
  • Strong leadership and people management experience, with proven ability to build healthy culture.
  • Proven ability to set and implement marketing strategies and build consensus with high-level leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and utilize databases, prior experience using Salesforce preferred.

Technical Competencies

  • Exceptional communication and writing skills.
  • Strategic planning in support of a fundraising and engagement goals.
  • Ability to work with major donors and fundraising leads to deliver state-of-the-art user experiences.
  • Understanding of major gift giving process.
