Responsibilities

Structured Solutions & Leasing (SSL) develops, originates, and executes (alone or together with other business lines) structured banking products for clients or for SG itself. The nature of the transactions executed by SSL are varied but typically address a specific requirement of the client or SG (being fiscal, regulatory or accounting requirement) as follows:

  • Asset backed financing including the following:
    • Non-tax and tax-based leasing
    • Asset-based financing (including equipment, real estate, financial assets, secured loans, warehouses)
    • Hybrid capital (preferred shares)
    • Tax equity in renewable project finance
    • Inventory finance
  • Sector focus on transportation (including “over-the-road” vehicles, fleets of trucks, buses, railcars, containers, etc.).
  • Provide structured financing at an attractive cost relative to traditional financing avenues.
  • Develop innovative bespoke structured products to match specific client needs.
  • Optimize lending risk adjusted returns and regulatory/capital efficiency.
  • Implement efficient tools to manage cash positions including in emerging markets.
  • Act as senior member of the team and perform product pitches to corporate and financial sponsor clients. Previous experience in origination including production of client pitch materials, conducting client pitches, internal marketing, and other origination activities are important to the role.
  • Lead origination and execution of structured finance transactions including balancing risk requirements while meeting client needs.
  • Have strong understanding of accounting principals and experience with legal review and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with the SSL governance process including in relation to transaction execution.
  • Represent SSL in internal dialogues to promote the SSL franchise.
    • Development of product solutions for clients and, where appropriate SG's own position, consistent with the SSL perimeter.
    • Origination of transactions for the SSL perimeter in coordination with other SG business lines as appropriate.
    • To undertake or assist in the execution of SSL transactions consistent with the SSL perimeter.
    • To enhance the SSL franchise in line with GLBA's and SG Group's strategy and priorities.
    • Supervise ongoing portfolio / transaction maintenance (e.g., amendments, takeouts, etc…).
  • Profile Required

    Technical:

    • Ability to originate, lead, and assist in the execution of structured finance transactions including legal documentation, risk, and financial modelling aspects. Applicant must have a history of executing structured transactions.
    • Understanding of concepts underlying structured finance transactions including in a cross-border context. This may relate to specific areas such as tax-based, asset-backed financing, land transportation financing, or more general areas of structured finance.
    • Understanding of origination concepts in relation structured finance transactions across a range of client sectors and for SG's own position where appropriate.
    • Hold firm understanding of the risk concepts (conduct, reputational, financial, etc.) underlying the governance process for the SG Group.
    • Strong accounting knowledge for both US GAAP and IFRS.
