SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Supply Chain Director for a hospital is responsible for developing and leading the strategic and operational management of the hospital's supply chain functions. This role ensures the seamless procurement, distribution, and inventory management of medical supplies, equipment, and services. The ideal candidate will optimize supply chain operations to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain the highest level of patient care.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Demonstrate effective leadership by developing and defining vision, mission, customer service, business plans and quality improvement activities and measures.
* Ability to work with senior management and directors to drive supply chain efficiency throughout the organization
* Provide effective human resource management by providing, assessing and teaching appropriate staff and promoting communication and feedback.
* Achieve results toward becoming the low cost provider of services and enhancing competitive performance by developing and maintaining a fiscally responsible and flexible budget.
* Manage payroll & AP relationship
* Hire new employees, disciplinary actions & terminations
* Yearly evaluations.
* Receiving & Freight management
* Effectively manage information to meet the needs of the service, department or organization by creating systems, analyzing data and providing timely reporting.
* Provide a safe and supportive environment by developing and monitoring safety standards, assessing the status and orienting and educating staff.
* Responsible for overseeing the procurement of supplies and purchased services including maintaining regulatory and corporate compliance, effective contract utilization, capital negotiation, and standardization of materials.
* Responsible for inventory management optimization throughout hospital, including assisting clinical areas. Oversee Storeroom and end of year fiscal inventory.
* Manage mail operations for entire hospital
* Logistics and courier service for entire health delivery system
* Manage technology and systems to improve productivity. Utilize GPO tools to improve price performance benchmarks
* Manage item master to ensure data integrity.
* Team with GPO and regional networks to improve pricing, contracts and product quality. Healthcare contract knowledge (LOC, tier pricing).
* Accountable for special projects as identified and assigned.
* Monitor trends and innovations in healthcare supply chain management to drive continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with executive leadership to set cost-saving goals and enhance supply chain efficiency.
* Negotiation skills with suppliers & key stakeholders
* Build and lead a high-performing supply chain team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.
* Provide training and development opportunities to ensure the team is equipped to meet organizational objectives.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including clinical staff, to ensure supply chain alignment with patient care needs.
* Ensures customer units are inventoried, material is inspected and delivered for replenishment on schedule, and responds to STAT requests by appropriately shifting resources to insure timely support
* Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including Joint Commission standards.
* Analyze supply chain performance metrics and provide actionable insights for improvement.
* Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
* Bachelor's degree
* AHRMM membership and CMRP certification (or completion within one year of hire)
EXPERIENCE:
* Five years' experience in a hospital setting.
* Three years in a management/supervisory capacity.
* Two years' experience using an ERP/MRP or inventory control software system. Previous experience with Oracle preferred
* Advanced analytical skills. Accurate and thorough knowledge in financial analysis, including discounts and rebates.
* Knowledgeable in medical terminology and PC applications.

* Strong analytical ability utilizing Microsoft Excel, and proficiency with all of Microsoft Office package.
* Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to ECHN.
* Perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility.
* Normal office environment with heavy lifting when staffing shortages exist.
* Travel to regional network meetings
* Working knowledge of GHX preferred.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and to manage projects from initiation to completion within prescribed schedules and utilization of resources.
