Responsibilities:Incumbent is responsible for the coordination of the materials management system throughout the medical center or health system, with regards to procurement, processing, and distribution of materials and services. Ensures the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of equipment and supplies throughout the medical center or health system. Manages operations of a materials management unit, implementing systems, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance. Manages staff using materials management techniques to maintain supplies. Establishes departmental goals and objectives and functions with autonomy. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and often physical resources in compliance with departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Ensures subordinate supervisors and professionals adhere to defined internal controls. Manages systems and procedures to protect departmental assets.

Qualifications:Required Qualifications:- Verbal and written communication skills to communicate strategies with senior leadership.- Strong abilities to actively listen and change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others.- Travel between procurement office and medical center locations, other travel up to 10%.- Strong problem-solving skills to address issues when no precedent exists and to develop creative alternatives.- Strong ability to set goals and manage the implementation process for initiatives.- Highly adaptable and ability to manage multiple priorities.- Skills to forecast talent needs and encourage leadership development for succession planning.- Position is subject to the California DMV's Pull Notice System and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.- Must have demonstrated knowledge of procurement practices/procedures (such as RFP/RFI/RFQ process) and demonstrated knowledge of strategic vendor sourcing and negotiation techniques.- Minimum five years previous working experience managing organizational-wide supply chain activities - procurement, inventory control, purchasing, etc.- Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with all levels of staff and coordinate supply chain activities across functions.- In-depth knowledge of the most current materials management best practices and systems.- In-depth knowledge of business subjects such as purchasing, inventory systems & controls, and/or accounting.- Expert Excel skills.- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant internal policy, external regulations, and best practices.- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.- Advanced skills in the use of ERP / financial systems (such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, etc.).- Advanced skills in organizing, simplifying, and increasing efficiency of processes and procedures while maintaining standards and compliance.- Ability to interpret data and make appropriate decisions for the organization using that data; knowing burn rate, utilization, and forecasting.
