Director of Support Services to plan, organize, execute and coordinate the activities of the Environmental Services, Patient Escort, Textiles, Food & Nutrition, Guest Services and Plant/Engineering Departments. Ensures maintenance of high standards of service to provide safe andefficient services for ChristianaCare Hospital Cecil & Middletown (EVS) campus.The successful candidate will have no less than five (5) years proven experience in EVS operations in a health care operation setting.
Principal duties and responsibilities:- Plans, develops and coordinates training to meet the developmental and learning needs of the organization.
- Supervises and directs assigned staff including interviewing and hiring new staff, evaluating work performance, coaching and disciplining
- Establishes and manages processes to determine workload, productivity and staffing needs
- Ensures employee relations matters are conducted in a fair, even handed manner consistent with ChristianaCare' s policies.
- Coordinates departmental activities and responsibilities with other ChristianaCare departments.
- Establishes goals with a plan of action for accomplishment, including clearly stated desired results in conjunction with the Senior Vice President of Support Services and Executive Director.
- Ensures that proper communications are maintained with staff through staff meetings, other oral communications and written communications.
- Initiates, negotiates and manages contracted services and supply agreements including waste removal, windowing cleaning, pest services, recycling, equipment maintenance, cubical curtains, cleaning supplies, hand sanitation supplies, transportation equipment, visitor tracking software, lost and found, trades contractors, and maintenance vendors.
- Coordinates the execution of work performed by contractors. Ensures that contractual provisions and construction schedules are met
- Ensures that Departments are in compliance with CDC, TJC, EPA, OSHA and other relevant regulatory agencies so ChristianaCare meets or exceeds the applicable regulations.
Education and experience requirements:- Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred.
- Five years' experience in Engineering or Environmental/Support Services Health Care Operations Management preferred (at least one large 100 bed organization).
