The Director of Visual Equity & Design is responsible for driving the creative strategy & design vision and owns packaging design for all brands across Campbell's Snacks. This leader brings a keen creative sensibility, strong marketplace & consumer insights, and a solid understanding of consumer packaged goods. He/she ensures our brands come to life remarkably designed and in a way that builds consumer affinity, strengthens brand equity, and drives sales.

The Director inspires a creative culture, actively develops and mentors a team of design management professionals and establishes strong partnerships with external agencies to lead us to bold, new directions that result in best-in-class design. This individual ensures a disciplined and consistent approach to the process of design, print production, and asset creation & management. Principle Accountabilities

Design & Innovation Strategy: 45%

  • Define and drive visual identity strategies that shape the creative expression of our brands, and ensure consistent and effective development of design in support of our business plans.
  • Provide creative thinking & visual positioning support to drive innovation & base businesses, encompassing visual territory exploration, naming and upfront design intelligence and research.
  • Drive thought leadership in brand design, identifying and interpreting trends and their meaning, assessing competitive, consumer and/or customer activities and clarifying their implications and identifying future opportunities for the visual expression of our brands.
  • Develop annual plans, inclusive of budget definition, for the package design function based on overall business strategies/plans.

Creative & Production Execution: 40%

  • Lead direction & provide guidance on the structure of design project methodology; including input into package design research testing.
  • Review and provide strategic input and guidance on the development of creative briefs.
  • Review, evaluate & guide design development work - pushing to inspire creative and find 'big ideas' and new opportunities that address business challenges & communication objectives.
  • Cultivate a robust roster of top agency talent - strategic & creative, while overseeing and maximizing existing agency partnerships.
  • Provide overarching direction in the execution of pre-press activities.

Department Management: 15%

  • Build & nurture high caliber talent within the department - motivating, mentoring, training and developing direct reports.
  • Monitor & manage team priorities and resources.
  • Enhance cross-functional partnerships & define better ways of working to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Investigate and assess emerging creative/print technologies and their potential application within the organization.
  • Reinforce processes & protocols that bring discipline and consistency to package design, print production and asset management within the organization.

Job Specifications

  • 15+ years of deep brand design experience (preferably equal exposure to agency and client-side environments) with direct responsibility for managing others. Experience in CPG brand design a plus, but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree (or bachelor's degree+) in related field.
  • Extensive experience crafting brand & design strategies - across both domestic and global markets.
  • Passionate design advocate with extraordinary design taste.
  • Exceptional visual storyteller.
  • Balance of strong strategic thinking and flawless execution
  • Extensive understanding and experience with consumer research.
  • Diverse portfolio of skills and experience, including depth of knowledge in artwork production and pre-press, photography and graphic design principles & processes; fluent in the application of packaging regulations.
  • Effective influencer of senior management as well as cross-functional business partners
  • Natural collaborator, proactive, solutions-oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills - written & verbal.

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$153,400-$220,600

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
