SUMMARY Visual merchandising is a key that unlocks the overall customer experience and brings store experience to life. The right balance is achieved when creativity in product presentation is equally balanced with data and science. JOANN visual merchandising efforts are sharply aimed at driving store productivity, optimizing space, partnering with merchants and planning on sales, margin and inventory metrics. The Visual Merchandising Director oversees all areas of visual merchandising and in-store marketing, and is responsible for ensuring every JOANN customer approaches, enters, shops, and leaves our stores inspired. All areas of the store influence the customer's experience from a visual merchandising perspective, including the planograms, in-store marketing, innovative displays, fixturing, owned brand shops, music, and cleanliness. Shopping experiences for our customer should also be both efficient and convenient. This exceptional and inspirational experience must not only be delivered in new design project stores, but perhaps more importantly, in existing chain locations. This role is critical in continuously analyzing, evaluating and sharing visual merchandising approaches and processes across the organization to ensure strong communication and alignment across various functions. Collectively, the Store Support Center (SSC) team maintains a relationship with the field based on trust and respect by providing clear and actionable directives, thoughtful education, and inspiring solutions. This leader will build strong relationships across the brand and will serve as a strategic partner to all areas supporting visual merchandising.

- Build and maintain strong relationships across the organization and serve as a strategic partner.
- Develop and share the visual merchandising strategic planning calendar while partnering with all supporting functions. Store efficiency, customer experience and labor hours are key filters.
- Develop specific store and department space allocations and adjacencies that optimize and contribute to sales gross margin targets.
- Build and develop a multi-functional team of designers, planners and strategists.
- Integrate brand and promotional communication into all visual merchandising directives.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibility over the Visual Merchandising team and direct reports including performance management and reviews.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in marketing, business or related field Education Preferred: MBA or Master's in a related field Experience Minimum: 10+ years of experience in a comparable retail role with corporate-wide scope/perspective, ideally in a Merchandising, Marketing, Operations or Strategy function. Experience Preferred: Experience in leading merchandising/space planning functions in a big box/specialty retail corporate environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS - This role requires in-person attendance 4 days a week at the Store Support Center (SSC) located in Hudson, OH. Flexibility to work remotely when requested is determined by management and business needs.
- Sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods while maintaining focus and productivity.
- Move around an office space and between buildings on a large campus, including reaching for files, retail product, supplies, or equipment, as well as the ability to adapt to various workstation setups.
- Work standard business hours and extended hours as needed based on task and project demands.
- Utilization of all communication styles - written, verbal, electronic options.
- Lift and carry office supplies, documents, retail product or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds as needed for tasks such as organizing or setting up workstations.

- In depth understanding of the buying cycle and retail calendars
- Knowledge of the competitive landscape, stays current with market trends including fixture, merchandise, and signage
- Demonstrated track record of success in driving incremental sales and profit
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong conceptual and analytical problem-solving skills
- Preferred background in JDA Space Planning, Floor Planning, CKB
- MS Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
