We strengthen the foundations of community by developing successful youth, engaging people in healthy living, and instilling a commitment to social responsibility.The Youth Sports Director is responsible for overseeing the entire operation of Youth Sports Programming for the Association, including ensuring program safety, managing facilities, developing volunteers and staff, and driving financial growth.Responsibilities:
- Create an inclusive and fun environment for participants by actively engaging and building relationships with participants, parents, and coaches.
- Represent the Y at assigned sites through effective site and equipment management, knowledge of the activity or sport, and by role modeling the Y's core values.
- Create a safe environment by educating staff, participants, parents, and volunteers using the Y voice attributes and responding swiftly to incidents when they occur.
- Provide appropriate feedback to participants, parents, and volunteers using the Y voice attributes.
- Implement leading practices and the established curriculum that helps youth achieve the five Cause Measurement goals.
- Supervise Sports staff ensuring hiring, onboarding, role-modeling, coaching, scheduling, and on-going development.
- Work closely with the Executive Director for Youth Sports & Resident Camp to ensure department operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices.
- Recruits and manages volunteers as needed per current Volunteer Policies and Guidelines.
- Expand existing programs and establish new programs and activities in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in recreation or sports management, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum three years of experience in related field.
- Experience in budgeting, fiscal management, financial development, health and well-being management, and staff and volunteer management.
- Experienced in successful supervision of staff and volunteers.
- Excellent human relations skills and an ability to maintain position communication with staff and members.
- Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
