Job TitleDisability Community CoordinatorAgencyTexas A&M Agrilife Extension ServiceDepartmentFamily And Community HealthProposed Minimum SalaryCommensurateJob LocationDallas, TexasJob TypeStaffJob DescriptionJob SummaryThe Program Coordinator II (functional title: Disability Community Coordinator) facilitates opportunities for accessible communities for individuals with developmental disabilities from various cultural, linguistic, and geographic backgrounds. The Program Coordinator II focuses on multiple goals and objectives in the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) Five-Year Federal State Plan. This includes, but is not limited to, support of new and existing promising practices to strengthen local, regional, and statewide Extension efforts to connect individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families with valuable resources, education, and support across the state. The Program Coordinator II will work with and through AgriLife Extension personnel and community partners, to help increase awareness, access, and adequacy of local information, events, and educational training opportunities. The Program Coordinator II, under general supervision, works collaboratively with leadership to plan, develop and implement programs.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesServe as a liaison and provide guidance to regional stakeholders to build community capacity to better support individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and families.Coordinate the presentation of program information to regional community and professional groups to increase awareness of AgriLife Extension and TCDD resources.Build cross-disability and cross-cultural partnerships and collaborate with local, regional, and state community partners to share and expand best practice models.Collect qualitative and quantitative data and public input (e.g., surveys, focus groups, in-person interviews) from individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to better inform TCDD state plan objectives and projects.Identify barriers including linguistic, cultural, and geographic access to services and supports.Research and review community needs, identify areas needing support to create change, and develop plans to improve programs and address areas of concern as they relate to disabilities, diversity, and inclusion.Demonstrate subject matter expertise, professional confidence, and clarity when representing AgriLife Extension/TCDD at regional outreach functions.Track regional activities and resources in an electronic database and prepare reports on program activities.Assist in establishing short and long-term goals and strategic planning.Other duties as required.Required Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in education, Social Work, Public Health, or Psychology related field or equivalent combination of education and experienceFour years of related experience.Preferred Education:Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Public Health, or Psychology related fieldRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to travel up to 25% (monthly) in the region.Skill in using personal computer, spreadsheets, and databases.Skill in oral and written communication and public speaking.Skill in attention to detail.Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Strong commitment to dignity, respect, and independence for individuals of all abilities.Expertise in early childhood education. Knowledge of resources at local, state, and federal level relevant to program areas.Ability to research, comprehend and effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts.Ability to prepare concise products and reports.Ability to plan and execute community events and webinars.Skill in audio, visual, and interactive media aids.Skill in developing and maintaining effective internal and external working relationships.Skill in project management and strategic planning.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.This is a grant-funded position.
