The Disability Support Services Specialist will carry forward this mission of inclusion by coordinating and implementing services and accommodations for LLS students with disabilities. This position will provide effective and efficient office oversight for the Accessibility Services Office and will report to the Associate Dean for Student Services. Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities Provide information and conduct presentations to faculty, staff, and students regarding accommodations, the Accessibility Services Office, and recruitment for note takers. Oversee notetaking software application assignments and recruit, hire, and schedule student note takers when necessary. Ensure that note takers and student employees are paid. Handle budgetary responsibility for processing payment to notetaking software application and student note takers. Work with the Office of Student Affairs and the Office of the Registrar to coordinate procedures for exam accommodations, including
- Scheduling exams for accommodated students based on approved accommodations and inputting accommodated student assignments in Exam DB and Banner
- Sends accommodated students their exam schedule
- Assists with accommodated student exam reschedules
- Provides accommodated students with necessary accommodated exam materials on exam day (coordinates with transcriptionist, provides fan, lamp, etc.).
Update and maintain data in AIM Management System. Produce queries or reports to distribute information on data as needed. Lead in research, recommendation, and implementation of assistive technology to be utilized for accommodations. Maintain data to track the office's efforts as well as students' accommodations to help improve the office's efficacy and project student needs. Assess temporary injuries; collect documentation, review impact of injuries, recommend appropriate accommodations and implement plan. Help create Accessibility Services promotional literature. Conduct Accessibility Services intakes for current and admitted students. Coordinate with psychologist for documentation reviews. Ensure compliance with ADA when discussing appropriate paperwork and possible accommodations. Assist the Associate Dean for Student Services in carrying out a variety of duties relating to implementing, advising, and supporting students with disabilities. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications - Typically, a master's degree or equivalent experience in Psychology, Social Work or Special Education. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes, particularly in the field of disabilities in higher education.
- A minimum of two years' experience working with student accommodations in a university is preferred.
- Proficient with ADA at the post-secondary level. Understanding of the differences between secondary and post-secondary law with regards to disabilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of university administration practices, policies, and procedures is preferred. Because the Accessibility Services Office is continually assessing, revising, and adding to its array of services, this position requires the constant acquisition of new knowledge.
- Ability to work effectively with students who are experiencing stress and anxiety or crisis situations, and experience working with a wide range of students, including those from underrepresented or diverse backgrounds.
- Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
- Must be able to compose and word process effective, error-free correspondence (e.g., letters, memos, reports) to students, faculty, and staff. Must keep detailed, accurate records (e.g., student and budget files).
- Highly developed organizational, communication, and collegial skills.
- Demonstrated computer competency. The ability to conceptualize, organize, and complete projects alone and in collaboration with other professional staff members is a key requirement. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required.
