Job Description:

SYSTEMTEC is currently engaged in a search for a Disaster Recovery Analyst that can report on-site for our client in Richmond, VA. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining disaster recovery (DR) plans for the IT infrastructure. This role includes conducting risk assessments, creating training materials, and ensuring consistency and continuity in disaster recovery strategies across all departments. You must excel at working independently, possess advanced technical writing skills, and demonstrate expertise in building disaster recovery plans from the ground up.

Required Qualifications of the Disaster Recover Analyst:

  • 3+ years of experience in developing disaster recovery documentation, policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical writing and independently building disaster recovery plans from inception.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment and mitigation processes.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in disaster recovery.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-responsibility role.
  • Proficiency in designing and conducting failover drills and tabletop exercises.
  • Experience managing service vendor relationships and contracts.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in DR initiatives.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented professional with a passion for disaster recovery and resilience in IT systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present disaster recovery strategies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Minimum of an Associate degree in information technology or a related field with 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities of the Disaster Recover Analyst:

  • Plan Development & Maintenance:
  • Develop, document, and maintain disaster recovery plans, including user manuals, guides, and reports.
  • Perform regular testing of disaster recovery procedures, including failover scenarios and real failover drills.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) across departments to ensure alignment and consistency in DR plans.
  • Work closely with teams such as emergency management, information security, and service management to integrate DR with broader business continuity strategies.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation:
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Evaluate historical disasters to identify areas for improvement and refine recovery processes.
  • Training & Awareness:
  • Design and conduct training sessions, including tabletop drills and awareness programs, to prepare teams for potential disaster scenarios.
  • Vendor & Resource Management:
  • Manage relationships with DR service vendors and oversee contracts to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Establish alert systems and response protocols for disaster scenarios.
  • Accountability & Compliance:
  • Define roles and responsibilities for team members to enhance accountability in disaster recovery operations.
  • Ensure compliance with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the DR framework.

Work Location: Richmond, VA - (Hybrid)- 3 days in office, 2 days remote. After a 3-month trial period, the candidate will have the option to be fully remote.
