Amherst College invites applications for the Dish Room Attendant - Pots and Pans position. The Dish Room Attendant - Pots and Pans is a full-time, year-round position, starting at \$19.35 per hour. The Dish Room Attendant supports the efforts of Amherst College Dining Services in providing the diverse campus community with excellent service and production of our menus. This position assists the culinary team with the care and cleaning of all utensils and cookware for the kitchen and the implementation of menu items. This individual takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College?s efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. The work schedule is generally Sunday 12:30 - 9:00 pm, Monday-Thursday 1-9:30 pm. Hours are earlier during the summer months. The Dish Room Attendant position is part of essential services and should report to work or remain on duty even when the college is closed. Summary of Responsibilities: Cleaning of Cookware and Utensils Wash, rinse, and sanitize all cookware and utensils using ServSafe standards established by the culinary program Retrieve dirty pans and utensils from kitchen areas, return clean items to assigned areas, and communicate clearly with our diverse kitchen and front-of-house staff Effectively utilize a pot washing machine as well as a 4-bay pot sink system Cleaning, Organizing, Maintaining, and Sanitation Keep surfaces within the station as well as surrounding areas of the facility sanitized with a high standard of cleanliness Organize efficiently all wares and areas where they are stored Maintain the organization and sanitation of the station as well as the operation overall Trash and Recycling Take out and maintain the cleanliness of trash cans and bins Qualifications: Required 1 to 3 years of related experience Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to follow verbal and written instructions Strong time-management skills, including the ability to multi-task and function efficiently in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Ability to work a flexible schedule, including working occasional overtime and occasionally during days off Commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive community Successful completion of pre-employment physical and lift test
