Description:
Mission of Department: Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the Nutritional Service Department to ensure there is always plenty of clean equipment at hand.
Purpose of Position: Dishwashers are responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitization of dishes, tableware, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils through manual and machine cleaning methods. Additionally, dishwashers are expected to keep the dishwashing area clean and safe.
Essential Functions:
- Scrape, rinse, and load dishes, pans, and utensils into the dish machine, or wash by hand
- Correctly places and stores clean equipment, dishes, and utensils in assigned storage area
- Stocks serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and other assigned areas with necessary dishes and utensils
- Ensures work areas remain safe and clean
- Cleaning machines and appliances used in the kitchen
- Empty trash containers, as needed
- May assist in cleaning and preparing various food for cooking/serving, as directed
- May assist in housekeeping duties to maintain order and sanitary conditions in the kitchen
Requirements:
Expectation of Service: This is a non-exempt 40 hour per week position. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of walking or standing
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and wipe frequently
- Must frequently immerse hands in water
- Must be able to work in a hot and damp environment
