Salary Range: $16.45 - $24.44 Job Purpose: The Dishwasher is responsible for ware washing, running and passing patient trays, and assisting with other kitchen tasks. This position provides support to the Director, Dietitians, and Lead Cook. Duties:
- Wheels carts to floor and passes trays to patients.
- Maintains floor stock in patient pantries.
- Runs Room Service trays.
- Sets up and tends dish machine.
- Washes pots, pans and dishes.
- Inspects clean dishes for cleanliness and puts them away in correct places.
- Handles clean and soiled dishes in a sanitary manner to protect self and patients.
- Cleans dish machine, work area and other areas as assigned.
- Observes and records temperatures of dishmachine and refrigerators.
- Makes efficient use of time.
- Assists other kitchen personnel with various tasks as requested.
- Participates in department meeting and in-service education.
- Must communicate orally with dietary staff, patients, and families.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of food safety.
- Ability to work closely with other employees under changing conditions.
Requirements:
- HS diploma or GED required
- Current Food and Beverage Worker's Permit required
- 1 year experience in institutional dishwashing preferred
Work Environment:
- The work of this position is subject to both environmental conditions of the inside and outside. The employee may be subject to noise, vibration, exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body. The employee is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working in cramped or high places, exposure to high heat, chemicals, or infectious environments. The employee may be subject to atmospheric conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: contaminants, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation. When required, the employee will wear a respirator and/or other Personal Protective Equipment .
Physical Demands:
- While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach, climb, balance, bend, stretch, and stoop. The employee will need full range of body motion, hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate various tools and manipulate objects. Normal range of hearing and eyesight; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Frequently required to operate tools/machinery that use hand and/or foot controls. May exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
