Overview:

The Dispatch and Safety Coordinator is responsible for the development and execution of the Traffic Center schedule. High levels of customer service through effective communication and planning are a key function of this role. The dispatcher also works very closely with OTR Drivers, Sales, HQ, and Local Management.

Responsibilities:
  • Answer incoming calls professionally and perform general administrative tasks such as running reports, copying, filing, faxing, and scanning.
  • Coordinate load deliveries by the company fleet or local carriers, and maintain the Dispatch Tracker for dispatch timeliness, on-time delivery, and tractor maintenance.
  • Block driver bids based on requests and seniority, award the weekly board, and resolve dispatch issues from order changes, delays, or driver availability.
  • Facilitate Run Right Conference Calls to ensure key performance indicators are met, and adjust delivery sequences in the Dispatch Planning System as necessary.
  • Ensure SOX compliance, make value-added decisions for World Class Service to Sales, and maintain driver compliance documents.
  • Handle accounts payable and financial forecasting, and maintain compliance with Frito Lay record retention guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with PepsiCo Global Environmental Health & Safety Standards (GEHSMS), OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct HS investigations for accidents, incidents, and near-misses, providing recommendations for improvements, and manage safety and compliance databases.
  • Coordinate and support safety/environmental program reviews, manage EHS records, workers' compensation scheduling, and accident investigation packets.
  • Perform job hazard and safety analyses, manage training and safety team meetings, work with vendors and contractors for EHS compliance, and perform other duties as assigned.

Working schedule:

  • Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM 6:30 PM
  • Salary Overtime eligible

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $40,000 - $67,000
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement

Qualifications:
  • Understanding of transportation operations
  • Understand and communicate DOT Hours of Service (8 day/70-hour rule, 11 hour rule, 14 hour rule)
  • Demonstrate strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrate self-motivation, independence and initiative
  • Strong training skills and the ability to work with deadlines, work under pressure, and be flexible
  • Capable of prioritizing and completing multiple tasks. Demonstrates a positive and winning attitude
  • Show strong attention to detail and communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to adapt to changes and develop/implement best practices
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and sense of customer service
  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred

  • Safety experience preferred
  • Work as a back-up to payroll admin - process payroll data weekly for Team Members
  • Provide on-site support for employee pay question and concerns
  • Associates Degree or 3-5 years of transportation experience
