The Dispatch Supervisor, reporting directly to the Director of Transportation, is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the efficient operation of our dispatch team. This position involves supervising the dispatch team, ensuring seamless communication, timely load assignments, and exceptional customer service. The Dispatch Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing workflow, resolving issues, and maintaining a high level of operational performance.
Responsibilities
1. Supervise Dispatch Team: Provide leadership and guidance to Customer Service Representatives, Load Planners, the Logistics Coordinator, and Dispatch Clerks to ensure smooth operations and adherence to company policies.
2. Workflow Management: Oversee the day-to-day dispatch activities, ensuring efficient coordination between CSRs, Load Planners, the Logistics Coordinator, and Dispatch Clerks to meet customer demands and expectations.
3. Load Assignment: Monitor and optimize the assigning of loads to drivers, considering factors such as delivery deadlines, driver availability, and load characteristics.
4. Customer Service: Maintain a high standard of customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring timely and accurate communication with customers, drivers, and internal teams.
5. Training and Development: Facilitate training sessions for dispatch team members, ensuring they are well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
6. Problem Resolution: Address and resolve operational challenges promptly, collaborating with other departments to find effective solutions and prevent recurrence.
7. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancement and implement improvements to increase efficiency and overall performance.
8. Providing Coverage: Step in to cover essential dispatch functions as needed to maintain smooth operations during peak times, absences, or staffing shortages.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
Proven experience in dispatch or logistics, with a track record of successful team supervision.
