You'll join a team of talented and passionate people who are motivated to make our community as strong and resilient as possible.HOURS: Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week - days. POSITION SUMMARY: The Dispatcher is responsible for assisting the Director in the daily operations of the demand response service, Agency vehicles and public transportation systems. Assists in computation, compiling and organization of data, statistics and rep6rts. Perform driving duties as needed/required. POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Maintains appropriate transportation data and assists in preparing statistical information for reports.
  • Provides telephone information and referral about all Agency scheduled programs, routes and general services.
  • Operates under the Agency's Drug and Alcohol Policies for safety-sensitive employees.
  • Coordinates all vehicle scheduled maintenance and vehicle repairs with the Community Action Program's Technician and contracted services.
  • Works closely with and assists the Director in the daily operation and helps to identify and report any problems in the operation, scheduling and implementation of the system.
  • Monitors proper communications of the two-way radio system.
  • Schedules and coordinates the public transportation systems and all other vehicle and transportation needs within the Agency.
  • Completes scheduling and vehicle placement with drivers as it relates to Agency needs.
  • Conducts daily start-up and the nightly securement of the buildings and the vehicles in the transportation systems.
  • Trains drivers and ensures that the Agency meets the training requirements of the Department of Transportation and the Agency.
  • Performs driving responsibilities as needed/required. Must follow responsibilities listed in Bus Drivers' job description.

  • Communicate proactively with the supervisor regarding workflow, problems, suggestions, etc.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment; and attend team and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Be punctual for scheduled work, use time appropriately, and complete work in a timely fashion with minimal errors.

Requirements Experience:
  • One year of prior experience as a transportation dispatcher preferred.
  • Bus driving experience with transporting passengers preferred.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform routine clerical tasks.
  • Ability to be polite and courteous at all times in dealing with passengers and negotiating traffic.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalency credential.
  • Complete driver training courses within required timeframe and have obtained a Certificate of Completion. (Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance and Emergency Evacuation).
License/Certification:
  • Successful completion of criminal record and driver record checks.
  • Valid NH CDL-B with passenger and air brake endorsements.
  • Current NHDOT medical card.
  • Must pass Agency Drug & Alcohol pre-employment testing to be qualified. Required to participate in random drug and alcohol testing as established by Agency Drug & Alcohol policies for safety sensitive employees.
  • Access to reliable transportation for required travel.
