Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Dispatch Operator is responsible for receiving and transmitting information, as well as dispatching crews and equipment to various locations. This position plays a key role in coordinating responses to service requests and ensuring efficient communication between field crews and office personnel. The ideal candidate must be skilled in using two-way communication equipment and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, prioritize, and process incoming requests for services or assistance via phone, radio, or other communication methods.
- Dispatch crews, vehicles, and equipment to designated locations, ensuring timely and accurate deployment.
- Monitor the status of crews and equipment in the field and communicate updates to supervisors and other relevant personnel.
- Use two-way communication systems to relay instructions, updates, and other critical information between field teams and the office.
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all dispatching activities, including times, locations, and outcomes of service requests.
- Collaborate with field personnel to ensure proper handling of emergencies, service calls, and other assignments.
- Perform routine clerical tasks related to dispatching, such as data entry and filing.
- Adhere to all safety and operational procedures while communicating with field teams and during dispatching activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED).
- At least one year of experience in dispatching, using two-way communication equipment, or related fields.
- Familiarity with dispatching software and communication equipment.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in dispatching for public services, emergency response, or a similar environment.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
- Knowledge of the local area and geography to assist with dispatch routing.

Working Conditions:
This position may require working in shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Dispatch Operators will primarily work in an office environment using communication equipment but may occasionally visit field operations for coordination.
