The Dispatcher is responsible for acting as an intermediary between external partners, drivers in the field, and facility logistics to ensure the successful pick-ups and deliveries of products. This role will be the main point of contact for our drivers, relaying information, and updates. Responsibilities
- Manage daily dispatching of facility drivers for all pick-ups and vendor deliveries.
- Work the logistics window to greet customers and vendors that visit the department.
- Maintain contact with drivers, tracking movements throughout the day to monitor schedules.
- Coordinate with outside carriers to ensure timely pick-ups and deliveries.
- Ensure all required paperwork is obtained from drivers and vendors, accurately submitting it into our system.
- Assist in coordinating mulch pick-ups and CHEP returns.
- Provide assistance with shipping and receiving in tracking inventory levels as needed.
- Support facility leadership in managing the dispatch and order calendars.
- Escalate matters to the Transportation Manager as needed.
- Foster exceptional and collaborative partnerships with PLA staff, vendors, and customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Education
- 2+ years of experience as a dispatcher or similar role.
- Some knowledge of relevant DOT regulations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Any combination of education and experience will be considered.
Physical & Environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Most duties are performed in a climate-controlled environment. Hazards require the use of personal protective equipment while in facility production areas.
