- Prepare SH's and OSP Forms for material moving out of the Machine Shop. Work/communicate with OSP associate about material that was received and needs to go out for OSP. (i.e. AR Coating)
- Receive and unload all incoming materials (remove all wrapping from pallet) if required. Attach packing lists, label, or stencil parcels or skids as required. Verify and identify part numbers and counts on incoming material from vendors. Need to break down skids and re-palletize as necessary for proper storage of material. Unload incoming pallet trucks.
- Assure correct identification of material received from Foundry or other sources and verification of packing list as to part number and quantity, and general responsibility for inventory accuracy.
- FIFO incoming material from suppliers into Sub Cell WIP (work in progress) areas.
- Responsible for scheduling and distribution of material to workload centers in conjunction with supervision and planner. Queue and distribute material scheduled for each Sub Cell by the scheduler and supervisor. Communicate with planner and supervisor of any immediate in process/rework orders due and any opportunities to maximize production.
- Responsible for the tiering, stocking and maintaining of assigned locations for materials to effectively utilize storage space and access. Maintain width of lanes for truck passage.
- Assure weighing, sorting, recording and delivery of all steel, iron, brass and other types of scrap materials between plants and from vendors, to include dumping chip hoppers/bins into designated scrap container(s). Load scrap material for removal, this would include but not limited to chip hoppers /bins/ baskets /solids / wood skids and crates, obsolete equipment.
- Operate gas and/or electric powered fork trucks to maintain a smooth flow of material to work and storage areas.
- Keep empty skids in designated skid areas to ensure organized and safe work areas.
- Include fixture and drawing for each part scheduled to the operator when production run begins.
- Assist with cycle counts of the machine shop, including assisting with counting and moving skids for accurate counts.
- Maintain product knowledge of the machining operations necessary for each part, so that incomplete parts are not sent to the shelf.
- Set up and operate Z415 floor drain, Z100 roof drain, excel multiple spindle fitting, spider machine, multiple spindle drill press machine, trap primer and tap machine.
- Set-up consists of using jigs, chucks, fixtures, templates, and casting indentions. Relocation spindle position, changing locating and jig plates. Changing holding devices, lead screws, and setting drills and taps to proper depth. Assuring accuracy and securing of jigs or work holding devices to ensure quality parts are produced.
- Obtain and use the proper tools to perform any standard operations.
- Use scales gauges or precision instruments to check work, depth of drilled holes length and fit of tapped holes to ensure quality parts are produced.
- Work from drawings, layouts, route sheets, and make all necessary computations. Vary speeds and feeds to meet requirements of metals.
- Empty garbage hopper in designated roll offs and assist with emptying machine shop garbage as needed.
- Responsible for organizing, consolidating and correct packaging and packing, skidding of material to order requirements. Utilize material handling devices to accomplish it. Wrap / re-wrap skids as needed.
- Inform supervisor and quality of poor quality of materials or fixtures, etc.
- Operate Forklift to make own moves.
- Keep general work areas clean and orderly.
- Safety - Maintain sound safety practices and follow all safety regulations at all times.
- Complete all required 5S, Daily Management metric charts, graphs, sheets, and boards.
