There are three (3) current vacancies. The eligible list resulting from this examination will be used to fill future vacancies in the Erie County Sheriff's Department.A Dispatcher-Sheriff work involves responsibility for receiving complaints or information concerning emergencies and illegal activities; and requests for services; then relaying such information to proper authority by radio, teletype and telephone, and/or computer terminal; which specifically includes radio dispatching of and continuing radio communication with radio equipped personnel/units in the field; and to maintaining detailed files of and preparing reports concerning related activities such as criminal warrants, investigations, summons, motor vehicle and marine accidents, etc.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the date of the written test:Possession of an Associate's Degree; orCompletion of sixty (60) college or university semester hours; orGraduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience in a position that involved radio telephone dispatching; orAn equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (C).A medical examination may be required before appointment.VETERANS: PROOF OF SERVICE MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE LIST IS ESTABLISHED TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL POINTS.ADMISSION TO EXAMINATION: Notice to appear for the test will be conditional as review of application for minimum requirements may not be made until after the written test.**IMPORTANT APPLICATION FEE - READ CAREFULLY** A $20.00 filing fee is required for this exam.
