- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Able to function in an active and often hectic environment.
- Able to take and relay messages and perform related duties and assignments.
- Able to exercise independent judgment and work with minimum supervision.
- Able to monitor camera surveillance feeds to detect suspicious or criminal activity.
- Able to dispatch first responders to areas of the campus where suspicious or criminal activity is occuring.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive emergency service calls from the public requesting police or other emergency services.
- Determine nature, location, and priority of emergency.
- Enter appropriate information in computer and forward calls to dispatcher.
- Answer calls for maintenance service emergencies during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Use telecommunications system to coordinate emergency calls and relay information and assistance requests involving other law enforcement agencies.
- Enter, update, and retrieve information from NCIC relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles, and other information.
- Receive, process, and transmit information to Federal, State, and local government agencies.
- Respond to, type, and file printouts and document requests.
- Responsible for answering all emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone and radio.
- Speak clearly and understandable.
- Maintain contact with all units on assignments.
- Maintain status and location of field units.
- Enter update, retrieve information on wanted person, stolen property, vehicle registration, and other information from statewide computer networks.
- Exercise good judgement and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Effectively communicate with and elicit information from upset and irate citizens.
