Position Summary:The primary duties of the position include (but are not limited to): determine the nature and location of theemergency; determine priorities, and dispatch EMS or other emergency units as necessary(ranging from routine to critical) and in accordance with established procedures; manages situations asconditions change; perform Emergency Medical Dispatch, including pre-arrivalinstructions using available resources; receive and process emergency calls, maintain contact with allunits on assignment, maintain status and location of EMS units; answer non-emergency calls for assistance; enter, update and retrieve information from a variety of computersystems; receive & respond to requests regarding non-emergency transfers from medical facilities, monitor numerous public safety radio frequencies; operate a variety of communications equipment, including radio consoles, telephones and computer systems; other duties as required.
Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 100 within 6 months and National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 200 within 6 months and National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 700 within 6 months and National Incident Mgmt System (NIMS) 800 within 6 months and Hazardous Materials Awareness Certification within 6 months and Emergency Response to Terrorism (ERT) Certification within 6 months and Emergency Medical Dispatcher (IAED) within 1 year. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of EMS Systems and unit deployment strategy, ability to multitask. Knowledge of radio operations. Knowledge of medical terminology. Good oral and written communication skills. Computer and keyboarding skills. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Computer and keyboarding skills with knowledge of Windows programming, IPA, Zoll online, RescueNet Dispatching software, and Medicare billing knowledge. Working knowledge of EMS systems.
