Dispatchers are jointly responsible with the pilot in command for the preflight planning and operational control of flights. Pay is determined by collectively bargained agreement.
What you'll do
• Responsible for monitoring the progress of the flight, issuing information or instructions necessary for the safety of the flight, and cancelling or re dispatching the flight (amending the release) if deemed necessary by either the Dispatcher or pilot in command.
• The Dispatcher has the authority to release, defer and cancel flights in accordance with regulations and company policies and with this authority comes responsibility and accountability for all decisions.
• Tracks taxi times and issues direction to stay within the DOT Three Hour Tarmac rule.
• Dispatchers plan flights based on safety, efficiency and customers comfort.
• Keeps the stations informed of flight status changes such as anticipated delays, cancellations, diversions, etc. and coordinates aircraft and crews for optimum utilization during irregular operations.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
• High School diploma or GED Required
• Minimum of 23 years of age
• Must possess a current Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate issued by the Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation
• Four year college degree preferably with an Aviation, Science or Business major, or Five years aviation experience which includes at least four years of operational experience, or Three years aviation experience, which includes at least two years of operational experience and a two year associates college degree preferably with an Aviation, Science or Business major
• Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
• Must fulfill FAA criminal background check
