Distressed Debt/Commercial Real Estate Finance Associate (5-9 years) Our client is seeking an experienced restructuring and distressed debt attorney skilled in representing institutional and private lenders and debt investors in both defaulted and performing commercial finance, CRE, Mezz and Specialty finance transactions. Experienced in both front-end investment lending and back-end distressed debt/investment enforcement including representing lenders in the origination, sale and purchase of permanent and construction loan financing, participations and mezzanine financing and loan restructuring, workouts and foreclosures. Experience advising Private Equity firms, investors, sponsors, and other market participants on investment fund management, and strategic joint venture transactions. Real estate financing experience should include: advising private equity lenders in permanent financings, (A/B, mezzanine and intercreditor arrangements), bridge financings, commercial mortgaged-backed security financings, and preferred equity transactions. Helpful experience includes representing investors in the purchase and financing of distressed debt in the secondary market and representing lenders and special servicers in connection with change of control/ takeover transactions, workouts and Art. 9 foreclosures. 5 to 9 years' experience is ideal. Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in good standing in the State of New York.
  • 5-9 years of experience practicing in real estate including, ideally, Mezz loans and preferred equity transactions.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Must be willing and able to interact directly with clients and counterparties.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with junior and senior attorneys.
The salary for this position will range from $175K to $210K, based upon experience. In addition to their competitive salary, they offer an excellent benefit package, including medical, HSA, Flexible Spending Plan, 401(k) with an employer match and paid vacation.
