Job Description:
JOB TITLE: DISTRIBUTION CENTER MANAGER DEPARTMENT: Commissary POSITION REPORTS TO: Distribution Centers Director CLASSIFICATION: Salaried Exempt DATE REVISED: September 24, 2024 POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for the daily operations of the distribution center including customer service; order fulfillment & delivery; employee management & safety JOB DUTIES Operations
  • Follow & complete the daily schedule for receiving, printing and pulling orders
  • Implement policies & procedures to control inventory including reduction and turnover ratios
  • Ensure incoming product is stored in a way that efficiently utilizes warehouse space
  • Perform periodic counts on orders to ensure order accuracy
  • Ensure all equipment/vehicles are in proper & safe condition
  • Ensure all orders are packaged in a way that product is not damaged
  • Create and submit all orders for inventory and non-inventory items.
  • Maintain a weekly/monthly purchasing schedule
  • Enter all invoices properly into the Tiger Inventory Program
  • Maintain relationship with customers by calling regularly
  • Follow-up on customer issues to ensure customer satisfaction
Leadership
  • Responsible for the output, safety, quality, customer service and teamwork of the distribution center staff
  • Coach & advise team members on performance that does not meet standards & offers suggestions for improvement as needed.
  • Maintain the training and certifications for forklift drivers.
  • Maintain the Distribution Center sanitation program.
Administrative
  • Prepare accurate reports & schedules within designated deadline
  • Enter and approve timecards for temporary employee placements and full time Tiger employees
  • Responsible for hiring and firing of temporary employee placements
  • Conduct annual performance reviews with all warehouse employees
  • Verify shortages/credits from facilities and vendors
  • Audit inventory counts on a scheduled basis
  • Maintain files for all facilities and vendors
  • Oversee & maintain the weekly clean-up schedule
Perform other duties as assigned or required QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Associates degree preferred REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Basic accounting practices. Knowledge of inventory control and employee management techniques. Knowledge of safety laws & practices related to warehouse/material handling operations EXPERIENCE: Three years management experience in a distribution center/warehouse environment or retail store SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Working knowledge of computers & printers. Knowledge of Microsoft products including Outlook, Word & Excel programs. Knowledge of internet and email
  • Excellent verbal, written & listening skills. Excellent telephone presence
  • Excellent customer service, problem solving & conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent time management & self-management skills
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle including a forklift
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Able to convey details or directions with volume & clarity
  • Must be able to hear & receive normal conversations & information
  • Must have average visual abilities necessary to read a computer screen
  • Must have ability to lift at least 15 to 30 pounds
  • Must be able to perform basic math: add, subtract multiply & divide
  • Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5000 to 6000 words; to read at a slow rate, able to write basic sentences & ability to communicate in standard sentences with good vocabulary
