Overview

The Stryten factory in Salina, Kansas is one of the largest lead-acid battery manufacturing sites in North America with 800 employees capable of producing more than 35,000 quality batteries per day. These batteries can be found in your car, in your boat or RV, or, in your lawn and garden equipment. Stryten proudly supports the local community by regularly participating in Project Salina, the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, and providing more than 100 volunteers for the Smoky Hill River Festival.

Supervise direct and indirect employees to meet established distribution schedules. Maintain safety, quality, productivity, and communication standards, along with controlling costs. Enforce compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • C Shift: Thurs-Sat, every other Wed; 5:25 am to 6:00 pm

Responsibilities
  • Able to understand and nurture a strong safety minded culture.
  • Communicate expectations clearly and hold accountable to those expectations.
  • Implement plant policies and procedures regarding safety and health.
  • Assign and monitor work to achieve production efficiently.
  • Direct, train, review, and discipline hourly employees as required,
  • Give recognition to employees that exceed expectations.
  • Assure production meets quality standards.
  • Control scrap and minimizing rework.
  • Understanding root cause and help develop countermeasures.
  • Assist in establishing and setting up equipment for distribution positions or for improved processes.
  • Report and follow through on equipment and maintenance problems.
  • Enforce all personnel policies and procedures.
  • Manage employee overtime hours and shift efficiencies.
  • Comply with current Quality Systems requirements.
  • Responsible to ensure completion of DOT training.
  • Use of inventory systems (JDE).
  • Complete hazardous waste training including proper management of hazardous waste, satellite accumulation containers, how to review and prepare a hazardous waste manifest, and proper labeling requirements.
  • Attend all meetings and training as scheduled.
  • Undertake assigned projects as directed by Plant or Department Manager.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting, Standing,pushing, pulling, walking, and twisting as required.
  • Will be exposed to extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid)
  • Occasional lifting from grams up to 50 pounds

Equipment Used:

  • General Office Equipment, PC, and various software to include JDE, including Microsoft Office,.
  • Personal Protective Equipment as required.

Education, Experience, Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a Distribution setting
  • Solid skills with Excel preferred
