Summary:

The Distribution Center Team Lead coordinates with the Director of Operations to ensure that distribution center functions, such as picking and pulling orders for pickup and delivery, placing product in proper storage locations, utilization of inventory control programs, and adherence to safe work practices are accomplished on a daily basis. They will ensure all orders are picked in a timely manner with great accuracy while maintaining a clean and orderly warehouse. They will also provide back up for receiving and assist with loading and unloading of trucks as necessary.

Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Distribution Center Associate Duties (85%)

  • Perform distribution center duties to include: pick and pull orders, fill and load/unload orders from trucks as needed to accomplish daily distribution center goals.
  • Restock/replenish products in pick slots from the Drop Report daily and as needed.
  • Responsible for having the distribution center neat, orderly and tour ready at all times.

Distribution Center Team Lead Duties (15%)

  • Maintain safe floor conditions in all areas of the distribution center area at all times.
  • Ensure full, accurate, and complete cycle counts are completed between each pick. Identify root cause if cycle count discrepancies and lead remedies to reduce errors. Work with Distribution Center Manager and other staff to assist in timely completion of Master Cleaning Schedule.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to any guests in the distribution center.
  • Handle food safely and complete food safety training within the first six months of employment.
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers and other employees.
  • Coordinate with Director of Operations to plan and implement appropriate training for distribution center team members.
  • Prepare Distribution Center Team work schedules and assign specific tasks.
  • Collaborate with Director of Operations to address distribution center team feedback and resolve concerns.
  • Provide feedback to Director of Operations to assist with completion of distribution center team performance evaluations.
  • Safely operate electric pallet jacks and forklifts. Identify and correct unsafe operation of this equipment and recommend remedial trainings as deemed necessary.
  • Complete train the trainer and serve as back up to train distribution center staff in the safe operation of electric pallet jacks and forklifts.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure inventory accuracy and proper rotation utilizing FEFO/FIFO inventory control methods.
  • Coordinate all daily paperwork activities with frontline picking team. Maintain accurate distribution sheets and pick orders, identify root causes for paperwork errors, and implement corrective procedures.
  • Fill out daily forklift inspection sheets and report equipment needing repairs to the Director of Operations. Train volunteers on proper use of non-powered equipment.
  • Attend staff meetings.

Equipment

  • Ability to operate forklift.
  • Ability to operate pallet jack.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment as necessary.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma and 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a distribution center/warehouse environment.
  • Must obtain ANSI Food Manager safety accreditation within the first 90 days of employment.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Previous experience with food distribution.
  • Lived experience with the impacts of systemic racism or marginalization.
