Job Title: Distribution Field TechnicianJob DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated Distribution Field Technician for a 9-month contract with the potential for direct hire. The individual will be responsible for field inspections of overhead and underground electrical distribution equipment, compiling field data, preparing minor work orders, and generating maintenance reports. The role requires daily reporting to the Grand Rapids office and involves measuring and mapping LVD systems, identifying and recording electrical equipment on poles, and conducting various field technical services.Responsibilities* Conduct visual inspections of overhead and underground electrical distribution equipment.* Compile field data collection, prepare minor work orders, and generate maintenance reports.* Measure and map out LVD systems.* Identify and record electrical equipment on poles.* Perform system inventories and audits, joint use management and permitting, pad-mount inspections, ground-line pole inspections, metering and apparatus services, and lighting audits.* Collect field data using laptop computers, tablet devices, GPS, and other electronic devices for database input.* Develop a working knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), electric utility construction standards, and telephone, cable, and other communication facilities.* Operate necessary equipment (height stick, range finder) to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities, perform pole inspections, and inspect and perform maintenance on pad-mount equipment.* Achieve weekly billable goals as defined by project guidelines.Essential Skills* High School Diploma.* Experience in data collection and field data analysis.Additional Skills & Qualifications* Associate's degree preferred.* Experience working with customers, landowners, and clientele to facilitate power utility asset replacements and upgrades.* Ability to perform design analysis and pre-field work tasks.* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.* Proficiency in GPS mapping and GPS data collection.* Knowledge of NESC codes.* Experience with utility distribution lines, overhead poles, and LVD systems.Work EnvironmentThe role requires reporting to the Grand Rapids office daily. After reporting, the technician will be assigned to another employee who will drive them to the day's location for data collection. Most work assignments will be within an hour's drive from the office.
