Job Overview:As a Distribution Center (DC) Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the distribution center, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to safety protocols. You will lead a team of warehouse associates, motivating them to achieve daily performance targets while maintaining high standards of quality and service.Key Responsibilities include:
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of warehouse associates to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
- Communication. Facilitate shift and area communication meetings as required, covering shift transition priorities, metrics, continuous improvement initiatives, quality alerts, and safety notifications.
- Workflow Management: Coordinate and prioritize daily tasks to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of orders. Ensure team has the resources needed to perform their work successfully.
- Goal Attainment. Drive the consistent achievement of departmental goals for finished goods fill rate, productivity, quality, and employee health and safety.
- Training and Development: Provide training and coaching to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Create and/or update work instructions as needed.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all team members, conducting regular safety inspections and addressing any safety concerns.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all quality standards are met and adherence to quality control processes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Maintain open communication with team members, management, and other departments to facilitate efficient operations and address any issues or concerns.
- Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate maintenance and repairs of warehouse equipment to ensure proper functioning and minimize downtime.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings initiatives, implementing best practices to optimize operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Advanced education preferred.
- Minimum 2-4 years' experience required in warehouse operations; Prior experience leading people strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a regulated FDA/ISO environment strongly preferred.
- Basic math skills (multiply, divide, percentage calculations, etc.) required.
- Basic to intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite required
- Experience working with ERP systems strongly preferred.
- Knowledgeable of safety regulations and procedures.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exhibits strong skills in planning and organizing tasks effectively.
- Demonstrates effective decision-making and maintains productivity under changing circumstances and priorities.
- Detail-oriented with a strong drive and a sense of urgency to resolve issues efficiently.
- Capable of leading teams in root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions effectively.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) on a frequent basis and up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
