Job DescriptionMt Adams School District #209District Home VisitorPurpose StatementThe District Home Visitor supports the instructional program by providing information on available programs and services to students and families, referring families to appropriate agencies, and fostering a partnership between home and school.Essential Functions
  • Community Coordination: Collaborate with community leaders and organizations to build resources and expand program capabilities.
  • Assistance and Support: Assist students, staff, teachers, parents, and community members by providing and conveying necessary information and services.
  • Meeting Participation: Attend and participate in meetings to gather and convey information needed to perform job functions.
  • Parent Communication: Communicate with parents on school-related issues to ensure ongoing partnership between home and school.
  • Parent Meetings: Conduct parent meetings to discuss needs and issues involving students and their families.
  • Teacher and Agency Collaboration: Confer with teachers, parents, and community agency personnel to evaluate student progress and implement objectives.
  • Home Visits: Coordinate and conduct home visits to assess situations, improve communication, provide information on school policies, and make referrals.
  • Data Gathering: Collect data related to incidents to resolve issues and prevent conflicts.
  • At-Risk Student Identification: Identify at-risk students and provide support and referrals to ensure their progress and family involvement.
  • Community Interaction: Develop opportunities for students and families by interacting with the community, including businesses and social services.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain confidential and non-confidential records and lists for documentation and reference purposes.
  • Student Supervision: Monitor students in various school environments to ensure a safe and positive learning atmosphere.
  • Activity Organization: Assist teachers in organizing assignments and group activities.
  • Activity Facilitation: Organize and facilitate various activities, such as parent meetings and conferences, to support the school and parents.
  • Workshop and Committee Participation: Participate in meetings, workshops, committees and professional development to stay informed about program guidelines. This includes being a district liaison attending the monthly Indian Parent Education Committee meetings which are held in the evening.
  • Record Keeping and Clerical Duties: Perform clerical tasks to support teachers and administrators. This includes oversight of the 506 forms required for the Title VI Indian Education grant including assisting parents during the registration process, facilitating the return of missing forms, tracking students who qualify and entering information into Skyward.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare documents, reports, and written materials to communicate information and provide support.
  • Referrals: Refer students and families to outside agencies to meet their needs.
  • Inquiry Response: Respond to inquiries from parents, students, staff, and external agencies.
  • Administrator Support: Assist administrators in determining appropriate discipline and placement in alternative education programs.
  • Impact Aid Auditor: Assist administrators in identifying, tracking, auditing, recording, and verifying addresses of students residing on Trust Land. After verification of the residence, working with Yakama Tribal Agency to validate the report.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Skills: Ability to plan and manage activities, prepare and maintain accurate records, and utilize standard office equipment and software applications.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of community resources, principles of community services programs, and basic math. Ability to read technical information and compose documents.
  • Abilities: Schedule activities and meetings, gather and collate data, and operate job-related equipment. Work with diverse groups, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to changing priorities.
Responsibilities
  • Work under limited supervision, following standardized practices.
  • Provide information and advice to others, utilizing some resources from other work units.
  • Perform tasks requiring some physical demands, such as lifting, carrying, and fine finger dexterity.
  • Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. The work environment has minimal temperature variations and is generally hazard-free.
Experience
  • Job-related experience is required.
  • Knowledge of the Harrah and White Swan communities and families, and cultural awareness/training specific to the Yakama Nation and Native American families.
Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; AA or Higher Degree Preferred
Licenses
  • Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability.
Clearances
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
Work Schedule
  • 200 work days plus 11 holidays.
Salary
  • Six-month probationary period at $22.72/hr, increasing to $25.24/hr after that period.
