As a personal care assistant, you will work directly with students to best meet their unique needs, helping each child to experience success. District Job Trainer Full TimeThe Ephrata Area School District is recruiting for a District Job Trainer. The District Job Trainer will work with students to support the development of job skills, social awareness, and work ethics for empowering students to gain and maintain independence as they transition to adult life.Responsibilities:
  • All job functions are to be executed through the lens of high-quality customer service. Customers are defined as both internal and external clients. Examples demonstrative of high-quality service may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • prompt responsiveness to inquiries.
    • professional and courteous verbal and nonverbal communication.
    • proactive problem solving.
  • Provides job training services to students as requested by student's team.
  • Monitor students on work sites and provide progress monitoring data to the teacher.
  • Connect students/families with vocational agencies as deemed necessary by the Team.
  • Make parent contact, as needed, to explain job training services for students.
  • Function as a member of the Transition/IEP Team.
  • Develop and maintain business partnerships.
  • Conduct practice interviews with students, evaluate performance, conduct specific job matching, job development and job placement activities.
  • Transport students to job interviews and work sites; with district vehicle.
  • Provide job coaching on an as-needed basis.
  • Facilitate community-based instruction for student specific skill acquisition.
  • Ability to report data and maintain accurate records concerning job training services.
  • Ability to work hours, as needed, outside of the traditional classroom schedule.
  • Adheres to the established work schedule through regular and consistent attendance.
  • Follows all federal, state, and local laws/ requirements pertaining to privacy practices, including but not limited to, FERPA and HIPAA. In addition, knows, observes, and adheres to all district policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor/Coordinator
Qualifications: Education: Must meet one of the following:
  • Have completed at least 2 years of postsecondary study with a minimum of 60 credit hours.
  • Possess an associate degree or higher.
  • Have completed the Credential of Competency for Special Education Paraeducators through the PA Department of Education or will complete within 6 months of employment.
  • AND is required by the PA Department of Education: Each school year, provide evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to position. Pro-ration will apply based on date of hire.
Experience: Minimum of two years' general experience in the workplace; experience in employment of persons with disabilities preferred. Certifications: CPR/First Aid/AED Language Skills: Ability to read, produce, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos. Ability to collect data and utilize basic technology to perform job duties. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct written or oral instructions. Ability to communicate professionally and efficiently to solve problems related to assigned student. Ability to use sound judgment and make decisions in the absence of supervisor and work independently. Other Skills & Abilities: Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with all District personnel, students, and the public. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of Education policies. Driving Skills: Satisfactory driving record for past 3 years. Workplace Expectations:
  • Must demonstrate regular and punctual attendance. Must interact positively with administration, students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior & speech and dress in a neat, clean, and professional manner.
  • Must follow all District policies, work procedures and reasonable requests by proper authority.
  • Must maintain the integrity of confidential information within the Business Office.
  • Follow established protocols as outlined in Student/Faculty/Support Staff handbook
Other Requirements: Applicants must also possess the following criminal clearances obtained within the last 12 months: Act 34 - PA Criminal Record; Act 114 - FBI Background Check; Act 151 - PA Child Abuse Clearance. The Ephrata Area School District also requires a pre-employment drug test, physical, and TB test upon offer of employment as directed by PDE and the PA Department of Health.
