Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial/MaintenanceDate Posted: 12/13/2024Location: West High SchoolClosing Date: 12/23/24, or until filledDistrict: Mankato Area Public SchoolsDistrict Maintenance West High School Mankato Area Public Schools Maintenance and Facilities has a District Maintenance position available at West High School beginning as soon as possible. This is a full-time (7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.), 12-month position. Summary of Duties: The Maintenance Engineer inspects and repairs plumbing, heating and electrical equipment, makes repairs on small engines and vehicles, operates equipment to remove snow, and repairs or replaces drywall, doors, door hardware and ceiling tiles, welding furniture and other equipment, assisting with pool maintenance and care, and assisting custodial staff with special event set-up and tear-down. Must be available for call back 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Qualifications Required:
- Understand and carry out both written and oral instructions.
- 1st Class or higher boiler license or willing to obtain
- Other related certificates and/or licenses (e.g., confined space, forklift, manlift, pool certification) or willing to obtain
- Equipment knowledge of plumbing systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC), electrical systems, mechanical tools and energy management systems.
- Strong carpentry skills/construction experience is preferred.
- Physical knowledge: stooping, bending, and occasional awkward positions. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and work in high places on ladders or lifts.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, and reasoning/analysis skills.
- Use of computer/technology for Time Sheets, E-Mail, Work Requests, and Building Automation or related tasks is required.
- Excellent communication skills are required.
- Must be willing to be an active and positive team member of the staff to see that the customer's needs are met.
- Regular, on-time attendance is required. Must be available for rotating weekend building checks and snow removal.
