  • Master's degree in Education
  • PK-12 Grade Reading Specialist Licensure
  • Valid Arkansas teaching license with Reading Specialist endorsement
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
  • Minimum of 5 years explicit reading instruction
  • Minimum of 5 years instructional facilitation experience
  • Demonstrated expertise through data outcomes in literacy instruction and intervention strategies
  • Familiarity with Arkansas literacy standards and assessments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead quality professional learning experiences for adult learners
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and data management systems
  • Experience with dyslexia interventions
  • Knowledge of English Language Learner (ELL) literacy strategies
  • Training in structured literacy approaches
  • Reports to: Elementary Curriculum Coordinator Supervises: Not applicable. Terms of Employment: The length of the contract will be 190 days. Evaluation: Based on local district policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Job Goal: The CPSD Reading Specialist will be a highly qualified, dedicated, and results driven certified professional. The district reading specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating effective reading programs across grade levels to improve student literacy outcomes. Performance Responsibilities:
  • Assess student reading abilities and identify areas for improvement
  • Design and implement research-based reading interventions for struggling readers
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate effective reading strategies into daily practice
  • Provide professional development for teachers and instructional coaches on best practices in literacy instruction
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed
  • Analyze reading assessment data to inform instructional decisions
  • Support the implementation of the Arkansas Science of Reading Initiative
  • Coordinate with classroom teachers and instructional coaches to address reading needs of students receiving additional support
  • Coordinate with special education teams to address reading needs of students
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions
  • Communicate regularly with the district curriculum and instruction team regarding student reading progress
  • Serve as a member on school Response To Intervention committees for students identified with Literacy needs
